That’s a preposition.
OFF TOPIC GUYS
No need for ‘a’ lol
GO GENERAL
Lmao I can’t not laugh at this
also, he referred to himself initially, saying “I’m” which infers that Mayo is the “Dumb American.”
This dude must apply to become moderator fits right in with the crowd
Anyway, Mayo, go for a 3600.
The 5% difference isn’t a fiscally valuable move, considering you won’t utilize the extra two cores.
Next Generation AMD processors will be out before mayo finnally purchases his built Lmfao
Lmaoo
loool
computers are awesome, ive been using a $1500 CAD rig i bought 3 years ago and it still runs current games very nicely
What GPU have you got in it?
buy now pc or when zen4 comes out
or wait for zen 5?
@abstract kite depends on the games that you are currently playing + games that you foresee would be playing in the near future
also, your grammar and syntax is... rather interesting
@fiery nacelle that was not my real english obviously
you're from the States, right?
oh German
well, I too am thinking of either Zen 4 or 5
waiting is hard tho haha
wait, more like Zen 3 or Zen 4
Getting money is hard too.
true enough
I probably have enough for a Zen 3 based system next year, but it would most likely be the last on the AM4 socket
A few months left before I have to upgrade my PC for cyberpunk and not nearly as much I as desire for my PC upgrade.
oh but it's deleted already
@chrome chasm That is a nice game to target - would be interesting with raytracing on
@abstract kite not all of reddit surely? just a subreddit right?
dont know
Hmmm, maybe the team regulars can help you out with whether to get a Zen 3 (Ryzen 4000 on AM4) versus Zen 4 (Ryzen 5000 on AM5?)
@mystic pasture @fleet canopy @late sorrel @dusty pumice @sick reef
@abstract kite
I'd go with 3k series with boost 2.0, and get proper cooling.
That would be nicely in time for Cyberpunk 2077 coming out soon too
the 4000 series would likely only be out in force like Q3 next year
Same with intel, incremental gain per generation is less monetary worth than grabbing the ground breaking series.
Yeah really depends on when your planning to buy
with how affordable AMD is, I'd always argue to get from the latest generation you can, but 3k is out right now and I agree we won't see it until late next year. And 3k has a lot of nag for buck and it's probably going to go on sale through the end of November and into December
would be a really great time to pick it up
Well it wouldn’t really matter unless you are really looking for the best of the best
We already got the best shit we need
The better are just wants
Hello. I have a problem. I have a LAPTOP HP, 1gb ram, intel 520, i3 1.2 ghz and i'm lagging in the game
1.2 Ghertz
It’s not a good laptop then
yeah that’s bad
my mom said this
1GB is shit lol
^
that’s terrible specs
i'm better than you
And I have a potato laptop
Gotta be trolling lmao
I buy my pc in 2000 so my pc is very good
ok boomer
My dad said it's the better laptop can I have
Come back when you have actual good questions and not trolls
I don't trolling
Me i'm trolling
I have a potato PC
Then get better pc
me too
Nice
Hello my name is samuel fredigger
Would recommend an RX 580, 16GB Ram, Ryzen 2600 if you actually are serious
and my name is Jean Kevin
I also curse you tinted for me now being full on AMD for specs
Anyways have any news come out on parts?
I heard there’s supposedly a new part now
@minor hearth drop the trolling please. Keep this on serious topic. Thanks
i stop
But can u find the problem with my laptop ?
It’s bad
Ok
x)
He plays the game in Very High
Hm
He's trolling
No want ultra?
I will request the santa for a new laptop
avoid notebooks, get a pc. If you really want to play games on a notebook, get a pc first, then a crappy notebook and enable streaming mode so you can play on your notebook but the PC does all calculation. as long as you are not on the other side of the world ping will be mostly fine but for competitive shooters. may need basic knowledge and how to use/install a vpn if you want to play remotely stream from anywhere
Great advice
just upgraded to ryzen 5 3600x and rog crosshair viii hero. am a happy man
i need 2 upgrade my hardware eventualy im running on amd fx
Would you like for us to give you a good description of what to get or could you put together a list yourself and have us review it?
i was thinking about getting a ryzen 5 2600 and 16gb of ram and a am4 mobo and just keep my psu and gpu i have now cause ill be on a tight budget due 2 me having 2 kids to worry about
Ah, well that seems good
just gotta find the right mobo is all
@kindred forge perhaps target a B550 micro-ATX or mini-ITX motherboard?
out early next year
stick in a Ryzen 5 2600
Then when the Ryzen 6000 series comes out in 3 years time, you could probably pick up a heavily discounted Ryzen 4000 CPU as an upgrade path
Fact: Ryzen 6000 won't be coming out in 3 years
It'll basically be a different name kek
Wow, 6 years ago we had 10GHz!!!??
Why are all our CPUs not close to that!???!
Imagine what tech would be like now if that was 6 years ago
It's in reference to that during the Pentium days, they figured that if it progressed as it has earlier, back in 2000's, that is when we would reach 10GHz.
Though, reality came in the way.
Hah
If we ever do have a 'Ryzen 6000' line-up
I don't think it would even be called that
Mhm
Now why do I have the idea that Ryzen 4000 line-up has been mentioned as a leak?
Okay then that's pretty much promised early 2020
Making assumptions within IT, at least this broad, are almost never to ring true
Yeah
It can change so unexpectedly
Funny to imagine we went from something like 1Ghz to 5Ghz in a good amount of years
It's the same as with all things
But I feel tech would progress slowly this time
Well, yes, but that's mostly because 5 GHz is kind of a hard cap with highly diminishing returns
Asides from that
Has any more news on parts been revealed?
Aside from the new 3950X, 3970X, and the 10980XE or whatever it's called
10980XE being just a rehashed 9980XE being just a rehashed 7980XE.
Hah
I got a good timing with my MB and CPU.
Neat
Since I have a 7940X.
Only if I had some money to get some competent parts :(.
I got mine during a low, for around 1200 euro, that I then delidded with liquid metal.
I also got the Motherboard for 350 euro, Evga x299 dark.
Now? Maybe 1500, and 700.
Was just before 9X series was announced.
I'm glad I didn't wait longer for 8-series architecture X series.
Because that'll never happen apparently.
Well, 8-series architecture have up to 35% improvement in multicore tasking, but maybe with too many cores, it'd have huge power consumptions
Mhm
I sincerely don't know why they keep to the other architecture, but it's very likely a scenario where, if they could, they would do it.
It was in part what made intel more competitive in multi core tasking against AMD, during that generation
It's also, if you're picking a CPU only for gaming nowadays, 8700K is probably your best bet, still, for the money.
Assuming it's cheaper than most of all others'
Well, if it were for best gaming performance, easily the 9700K
9900K is kind of the same
Well, it's very likely the 8700K is cheaper, and the improvement is negligible between them.
Well, probably depends on the vendor, but could be likely.
There's always the market for used items, and there 8700K is bound to be more abundant, or cheaper.
Wow
Only 10$ more on a 9700K apparently
Some are near or over 400$
But cheapest is 10$ more
Yeah at this point, no reason to get a 8700K if you can get 9700K for same price and more perf
If it's new market, yeah, I'm seeing the 9700K being cheaper.
But I'd check the used market as well.
Why am I seeing a 9900K being sold with an image of the shipping box of the 9700K?
I swear they're too lazy to find an image of a 9900K shipping container
Where?
For myself i would never consider using a second hand product since the warranty on these products in my country is so good id be losing money if something went wrong with a second hand product
I guess I wouldn't know. I generally don't bother with warranty unless it is broken out of the box.
I have 24 / 36 months a money-back guarantee
Neither do I really buy used.
Yeah, that's good, but it would require you to prove that it wasn't user fault, right?
Ehh only in a small procent of cases yeah
But a very high chance ill be stil getting my money back
Other countrys you have to proof alot of shit but in mine its pretty fucking good tbf
I even recieved money back on my water damaged perhiphials
Neat
I had a graphics card I got a friend here give him artifacting in one specific game, and when I returned it within the 30 days of return policy, they had changed their return policy that very day, so I didn't get full money back because they sold me a faulty product so they price cut it?
I decided to avoid that store at all costs after that.
L
I got like $350 back in return from an old as Steelseries mouse and keyboard
Specifically knowing that the return policy doesn't give back 100%
It was a coupon or giftcard but stil pretty good
Kind of ripping off people if they're doing that
Not fully, it's that electronics are hard to sell etc, they take off 5% as a disincentive.
But when it's that the product is faulty, and I was under a different warranty technically
they can go fuck themselves.

thats pretty shitty but hey what can you do about it
Not buy things from there.
Exactly
I mean you stil would of bought atleast one product from em
Avoid it. Not recommend the store to people. Only use it for help with things that cost them time, without buying.
At least it's not being done on the very well known retailers
Hm
computer part*
Kinda shitty they can change their policy on an already sold item
And what retailer is that
It was a judgement call technically but it's great that they chose that one, because then I can say fuck 'em.
It's a Swedish retailer. Inet.
Institute for New Economic Thinking?
And they made that choice because specifically
the card was artifacting on my friend's computer.
So yeah, within 30 days, I wanted to return it because it didn't work properly, and they cut it 5% because it's the very day they changed their return policy.
And it's not about to money to me, but the principle.
What if this was my new CPU, or MB, or what ever?
I'd be rather stumped to find that out, the day it haywires.
I'm now questioning whether I could even fit a Dark Rock 4 with Trident Z
I decided to check, doesn't seem high enough to fit from what I see
The pro could fit that from the image seen from the bequiet! website with the Trident Z ram installed, but from seeing the non-pro version, I doubt it fits lol
I dunno.
you know what’s the worst part about asking someone their pc specs
they just say that they’ve got an “i5” for example
which is no metric
"I dunno man, it's a black box"
yeah it's pretty vague, kinda like defining your engine only by how many cylinders it has
Well, engines are a whole other story.
Noone would define an engine by their cylinders in a similar manner.
Since it's almost always tied to volume
exactly, it's a useless metric 😛
Well, it wouldn't be done
But people are stating i5 as a metric.,
Or similar, obviously.
Isn't Steelseries known for being one of the brands you either overspend for, or yet it's also one of the brands you go to if you don't have the money to buy better peripherals
Yeah I'd avoid them at all cost
my brother bought their $300 wireless headset and it's absolute dogshit
but he won't believe me since he has tin ears
did he set up the equalizer settings?
I don't think he knows how
F
yikes
but rarely will the equalizer fix a problem that's based in the drivers
oversaturated bass and muffled audio
yeah
the equalizer fix the audio for my steelseries headset, get him to try it if that doesn't work i guess steelseries just sucks
It depends. Sometimes you're buy headphones and crank the bass all the way down, and it'll still sound too boomy
Flashbacks to when I used to be one of those kids that only used Turtle Beach
now im getting flashbacks ;-;
lol
I bought a pair of flat monitors almost a year ago and now I can't go back to normal headphones
ngl I think it's a curse actually
probably overspent on these too but they actually sound good
in a way its a curse to have a good headset because as soon as you use one that sucks its hurts
I have a pair of beyerdynamics and a couple of different sennheisers
Back in the day the steelseries headsets where absolute garbage i've had a couple in the past same for Astro's
Bro like it's getting worse
Astro A40s and A50s made me get massive headaches because it pushes down so fucking hard on the ears
.>
Lmfao
Also not a lot of people have done this I figure, at least that I've seen
I plugged my echo dot into my mixer
What kind of mic did u buy?
so people in disc can hear Alexa
haha
I got an AT2035 w/ Behringer mixer
Saved a lot of money not going with focusrite
recommend against getting those.
Everyone and their mum seems to like to do the at2035 and FR combo, but honestly you could do better in 2019 for less
I think those are mostly streamers and usually get the idea to grab a focusrite off a youtube guide or whatever they use for information
I have a more bassy voice so the mic doesn't work as well for me as it does for others
but I'mma wait until Cyber Monday at least to get something else
You've all been blessed
by Alexa
Damn
I guess it's yours, correct?
yep
kek
The second one was before I figured out I could just plug my Echo in using an aux cord
lol
Also I'm basically sponsored by Alexa at this point, but you can get a free Google Home Mini if you sub to Spotify
so $10
Spanish Ryzen goes up to 470 GHz
Is that a CPU to use your PC as a hovercraft
more like heater haha
Good for winter.
TDP 85W I presume
@dusty pumice i find byerdnyamics shit
headphones have shitty q uality.
real boxes are way better than headphones
@abstract kite Thats your oppinion the price is very okay for a set of open ear headphones
I got a set of these lovelies in the mail yesterday
Wireless right?
Both
They can run wired and wireless with dual inputs simultaneously.
So I can have my headset wired to my pc, and Bluetooth to my phone, so that if I get a call I can answer it without taking off the headset.
Thats nice if you have to take alot of phonecalls
I like to play my music on my phone, and run my game and discord on my pc
I have it setup so i can just switch between headset or headphones and speakers at anymoment
I can tap the left ear and pause the music
So if it’s just casual I can keep the music running, but if it’s getting hot and heavy and I need to be able to hear footsteps, I can switch the music off with a tap.
They also have aura sync.
You see- here at InferCorp the color red is very important to us.
InferCorp happens to be my fictional corporation that usually sets fire to things...
@thorny granite that's a really nice setup
I could only wish for such a set up
It’s a laptop...
Rip
like you can't actually buy them
Steam Link?
yeah
Havent those been sold out for a year now?
What's the steam link again?
These things?
Yessir
Oh so it's basically Steam on a box for everything
You basicly connect your PC to your TV
I have two
I use it more for streaming movies and series than games tbh lol
yeyeah
It’s a wireless connection though
Honestly you could probably do it with a raspberry pi or two...
Possibly even better
you can get the steam link app for a raspberry pi
Yeah werent they releasing software for it now?
or developing it idk havent kept up with it
iphone, android and raspberry pi
Apparently there is a free steamlink app for samsung smart tv's aswell
So its all good in the hood
do a a8-9600 bottleneck on a gtx 1050ti?
most likely
and what gpu do you recommend that is like around 200 250 dollars?
you can get a 1660 super for around 229 USD
check newegg for that stuff. but also remember black friday and cyber monday are coming up. good deals
but i think a 1660 do a incredible bottleneck on my a8-9600
i was thinking of buying a r9 270
I would actually recommend going for an rx 580 and a CPU upgrade
Sure, it might be some more money due to needing to buy the CPU as well, but worth the performance upgrade
Might be more for motherboard if it's needed
Mmk
so sadly my pc cpu cooler is dying and its going to be cheaper to go for a full new rig then what i was looking to part out to update everything
looking around and happened to get recommended this https://www.bestbuy.com/site/cyberpowerpc-gamer-master-gaming-desktop-amd-ryzen-5-3600-8gb-memory-amd-radeon-rx-580-2tb-hdd-240gb-ssd-black/6362427.p?skuId=6362427
was going to add some ram and case fans, or is there anything else that stands out to anyone
Oh no! Get the defib!
still looing into a new cpu cooler for this one but with all the updates it needs this is sadly where its going
or maybe go and put the one from the new pc into one i have and upgrade the new one
Can you not just buy a new cooler alone or are you wanting to upgrade at the same time?
People
Var headsets
Can you have additional sensors for the Oculus S
I know the headset tracks the controllers also
But is it possible to have additional sensorsnfor 360 degrees?
sadly it is highly doubtful
Oculus is pushing for sensor-less tracking.
If they added support for extra sensors, it would be admitting their non-sensor system is flawed, and not a viable upgrade.
isn't it flawed though...? 😛
yes, but they aren't about to admit it P
haha very true
now, upon further research, it does seem Vive Cosmos MAY have support from Vive lighthouse sensors in the future.
@late sorrel I think I was talking to you about gaming mice for sweaty hands, right?
I got this mouse a couple weeks ago, and it's been working out really well. Great air circulation.
https://www.pcgamingrace.com/products/glorious-model-o-black
Oooooh I love the lighting on the side
I’m looking at the new cooler master one
might have to come after a new headset tho
wait that’s not it
I got the Corsair Dark Core wireless after using a Razer Deathadder for 5 years
honestly it was a really good trade
It still works, but Razer mice get really dirty over time, and because of the finish are impossible to clean
@cobalt hound I'm super heckin late but for 200-250 USD I would say the 1660S. If you're able try to get a R5 2600 or 3600 for a CPU upgrade as well.
@vivid sandal what is your current PC's specs, and what all would you intend to upgrade?
I mean, the Evo212 is a good cheap cooler if it's not too bad of a cpu to cool
Evo 212 is a staple for sure
I like the fact that they've made revisions of it
Like the RGB and black one
tbh I'm considering getting one of the two
and oc-ing my 2600
I dont know the current GPU you're using @vivid sandal, but the 580 (imo) probably isnt going to be adequate in a few years.
Get the black one Mirrors
Looks cleaner 😛
but rgb :(
but gamer aestetic
oo yeah, forgot about those
it's like 2 dollars difference anyway
@vivid sandal For 100 USD more you can get a 1660 super with the same specs as the prebuilt PC you linked. Idk your budget but here's the list of parts. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nkcDx6
Ignore the bios update issue. If you've never done one of those before its a simple as downloading a newer bios version onto a USB stick and updating the motherboard.
Pretty much
I highly recommend getting 16gb (an extra 50 USD or so tho) of ram as well since that's a sweet spot for most games and applications, but if you're pinching pennies 8gb will be sufficient.
The 3600 is a fantastic processor too. Can't recommend it enough.
working with pcs makes me happy
^^^
Thank you @abstract kite
@vivid sandal if you have any questions feel free to DM me. I’d be happy to help (and finally use my useless knowledge lmao).
@late sorrel Two and a half hours later and I realize I tagged the wrong bloody person I'm so sorry
Tags are dangerous yo your lucky Tinted is a nice guy 😜
indeed
You can play minecraft on a raspberry pi
If i was go to air cooled I would buy one of these meaty bois
or one from noctua
No you can't you have to have only the best for minecraft
Noctua coolers are apparently explicit content and I wholeheartedly agree
Hot
Look how beefy that babe is
Yes
its like it was made to blow push air through the fin stacks in a totally normal manner
I cool my CPU with a jet plane engine
Dump it in ice
I keep my pc in the refrigerator
I keep my PC in the freezer
I'm telling you the desk fan is the way to go
I had coolers for god knows how long
tilli met the blizzard
Minecraft never ran smoother
Smh
real talk did you undervolt your 3900X?
Best is passive air cooling
Nope this is MSI's configs
i don't want to jack with clocking / overclocking since there are already readings of chips blowing
So far the only thing that taxes it is when i render video for our non-profit animal rescue
Oh nice
Hm
I'm buying a 3700X on black friday but I've thought so hard about getting threadripper
omg star citizen I love you eternally now
Honestly if i didn't do video encoding and the other stuff i would have done the 3700x
I might get a 3700X on Black Friday cause why not. If it goes cheap enough, worth a steal
Make sure you get decent ram at least 3200 for the 3700x if you do
I’m getting 2x8 3600MHz
I paid the extra $100 for the samsung die's did 32gb @ 3200
Course I’m good off lol
the 3700x is really on par with the 9900K as far as productivity goes, so I'm getting my moneys worth imo.
Harold the 2000 series is whats probably going to be on sale. I'm still waiting just in case, but since I'm buying from Microcenter I doubt it'll get cheaper than there.
Apollo I was going to get 3600 and then fuck with the latency timings lmao
The 3000 series have to at least be on sale
Really people are finding out overclocking the ryzen's new gen is almost counter productive
It’s such a hot part to use
They just came out this year so I doubt it though.
Excuse pun
It is minimal gain for a TON of adjustments
I mean the timings for the ram, not the CPU.
If you are correct and sale isn’t on 3700X, I can still go for a 3600 at least
Ryzen does love fast ram
Ahh, well with that 3200 to 3600 is a few seconds for most things
I'm ok with the extra 3 seconds 🙂
The sweet spot was 3733 or something like that according to AMDs testing?
Hm
Yea, but the difference is still not as big as you would think
but the difference between 3600 and 3733 is nigh of 2%
Still better to get 3600 anyway
From 3200 to 3600 is like 5%
so really, if you can get 3200 for way cheaper, go for that.
I'm dying to do an SFF build
but there's no SFF cases under $250 that are worth buying
Just also be warned with the max ghz posted, the current bios for most motherboards are not hitting it
OOF. I'm going with the Aorus Master since it has pretty much the best VRMs across the board (no pun intended) outside of E-ATX
I might just get Dark Rock Pro 4 since it can allow G.Skill Ram
Gigabyte is killing it right now with their boards.
Dark Rock Pro 4 or any Noctua is my recommendation. They're both fantastic
Any Noctua?
Even the tan/brown ones? Hell yeah
Lol shitty color scheme tbh why did they decide on that
If I was building in a case without glass, I would 100% use their industrial fans.
They're so good.
NH-D15 is similar to a Dark Rock Pro 4 so I’ve heard
They're pretty evenly matched
Yeah
I'm currently air cooled with a Cryorig H7 but I'm going with an AIO for my next build
I'm still not satisfied with the current selection of AIOs since NZXT is a joke and Corsair iCue is pretty bloated.
But my budget doesnt allow for me to do custom loop lol
yet
If the TR 2950X goes on sale on Black Friday someone better hold me back
Oh my
I literally have no use for 16 cores outside of CAD
but 16 cores
And, no PCI-e 4.0
so that's a downside
Then don’t get it if it’s unnecessary
Stilllllllllllllllllllllllll
Glue it to the front of your moms car AMD powered now
Hm
I'm getting the 3700X
Lovely choice
3900X isnt coming down in price (neither is the 3700x)
Though if the 9900k drops in price to about the same price as the 3700x I'll be buying that. Z390 boards are cheaper than X570, so in the long run I get about the same performance for a cheaper price.
Well
It’d be such a steal
Getting what is apparently the best gaming CPU from Intel
If that’s what it still is to this day
I feel like I'd be losing out tbh lmao
but hey
about the same
for cheaper
lmao
Well if the 3700X is the better choice in your opinion, go for it
After all, it might not be too much expensive to get
Intel honestly has nothing going for it at this point
Expensive
Slower
and Insecure

Until they one up their game, poor intel
It’s funny that it’s only been like
2-3 months since Super and 5700 release?
Feels like much longer ago
Yea
I was going to buy a Super card until I realized that Ampere is coming out 1H of 2020
My 1070 has been sufficient so far
I can wait a few more months
Ampere?
@fleet canopy Its the codename the successor to Nvidia’s Turing generation of RTX graphics cards is known as Ampere
Ah okay
Like Turing was codename for the 20 RTX series
They gonna be 7nm
woooooooooo
After this PC the next project I'm going to have to save for is a flex transceiver ;-;
I'm looking forward to it and not at the same time
Looking forward to the gear; not the wait. lol
my specs:
- Geforce RTX 2060
- Intel i7 9700k
- 32 RAM (Non-SSD)
am i good?
My specs:
- AMD RX 480 8GB
- Intel I5 9400F
- 8GB
am i good too?
Yep yep
My specs:
- Geforce RTX 2080 Ti

- 2x M.2 - 2 TB, 2x SSD - 2 TB
am i good as well?
damn
Sorry man
I've got

-8gb Ram
-Amd Fx-8320@3,5ghz
-Gtx780ti
-2tb (1tb HDD 1tb ssd)
getting soon new parts ❤️
@tight agate Give meh the deets. I love new tech.
i9 9900
What made you choose that processor?
Curious
Based on the market out there right now
future XD
Intel’s still running 14nm tho
I’m a ryzen shill forgive me

I’m biased and I know it
i9s are still pretty sick tho
I hope it treats you well when you get it 🙂
Isn't 9900K an i7?
*9700K
Is probably what you’re thinking of
i5 9600K, i7 9700K, i9 9900K
That’s the latest intel lineup on the LGA 1151 socket iirc
Maybe so. they are throwing around i9 a bit now.
Did think it was the 9990K that was the i9, but maybe that was something else.
There’s the Core-X series processors that start getting into the “intel enthusiast” lineup
Well, yeah, the X series used to be the only one's in the i9 series.
there’s the i9-10980XE or some shit that’s going to be the next gen intel “enthusiast” chips that are on either the LGA 1200 or LGA 2066 socket
I don’t keep up with intel too seriously
only enough to know the competition
Yeah that’s the name
10 series is going to be comet lake yea?
They need to get out of the lakes
And the refreshes
OOF the lithography is still 14nm
Yea it’s on the LGA 2066
1200 is for the next gen consumer chips iirc?
Well this is embarrassing.
Rumor is the 3950X is faster than the 10980XE on certain benchmarks
For consumer, I don't know.
Ouch
Not too unsuprising
Geekbench was the test
Ryzen outperformed in both single and multi core
Intels gotten to complacent. They really need to RnD some new stuff.
You can only go 14nm++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ for so long lol
They need to just not be little scared wusses and release an 8-gen Xseries.
Literally one simple bios change and you’re in Intel’s ME and basically god mode after that.
Like what the hell Intel don’t make it that easy for hackers.
And yea Intel is dragging their feet at this point.
Which is why I really don’t want to buy their products. Give my money to the other guy (along with thousands of other people), and maybe that might spur Intel into action.
You do good if you support AMD
^
The 3950X is faster because both were not tested on same specs
AMD has better part tested. Intel had worse ones
I believe 3950X was tested with 32GB Ram at probably 3200Mhz, not sure of other spec
And 10980XE was tested with 16GB at 2933 or 2800MHz, again no idea what specs are
Both were DDR4 Ram I believe
We'll be able to see later on how they both perform though.
These are just rumors so far.

AMD is a company. Intel is a company. You should never support a large scale company, as it doesn't benifit you. If anything at all, you support a product, because it is good.
^ 100% the truth
Supporting companies do benefit you
supporting companies creates competition
meaning newer products and lower prices
both are things that consumers benefit from
Unless they release a competative product they would not be competative to begin with.
It is the product. Not the company.
This would make of an interresting discussion but its litteraly 6:42 am for me lmfao
It is for me as well
My point is
Sales count to large companies
So if a company starts losing sales to another one, what are they going to do?
If they're smart, they're lower prices or create a better product
Yeah. And companies only matter if their product is either unique or competative.
Or they create an ogliarchy.
So you're in agreement?
I am saying what ever is the company is irrelevant to the product.
I dont follow but okay
Intel has, after the 2nd generation of i7/i5/i3 blatantly charged customer a shitton of money for worse quality product every generation after and had zero interest in making processors actually faster and inventing new technologies in the consumer section.
You mean faster as in beyond 5GHz?
No, not only raw hertz speed.
For example the process of creating the chips is cheaper
The cpu heat spreader are no longer soldered but glued (wtf)
The IPC (Instructions Per Cycle) is not really much faster since 4th gen and the newer lineup
For a long time Intel only created 4 cores CPU because why create 6 or 8 core CPU's if people are willing to pay the same price for a 4 core CPU
ofc, because of competition not being able to have a good product they could do all that
Likely, but also likely that four cores was seen as a standard for an average computer. Most of the architectural improvements come in the way of not raw power, but efficiency.
Now as then.
Intel Speedstep and other stuff did not see much improvements or changes over the year but I could be wrong.
Also to mention is the spectre/meltdown issue and Intel keeping it secret for many months and only informed business
Yeah. That in itself was a lapse due to efficiency.
i think it's good that AMD is back and it does help you supporting a company as this means we don't see the same scenario with Intel being the only real choice for good CPU's
if AMD was always on pair with Intel, you would never said the "4 cores is standard"
4 cores was standard because intel could define it
we probably would be now all be on 8 cores if not more if AMD was always competiting with Intel
Back from work, and yes, in a way Intel defined 4 cores as standard. But so did also the enviroment computers was in at the time. As long as there was no demand, or high demand rather, for higher core counts on a basic computer level for home computers, there needed not be more than 4 cores.
Also, in and around 8/16 cores/threads, you're beyond the need for the average computer user, as of now, and the close-ish future.
One can be brand loyalist, that's up to them, but once on top, the king rules with an iron fist.
That is why I try to judge products regardless of the company. Then things are what they are, not what I think they are.
woooooo
hell yeah
TLDR: 3950x is so good that basically the next threadripper has serious competition
AMD competing with itself XD
that too
Like making the standard 4 cores for gaming back then
but still, it's pretty amazing
Yeah
Not to mention, the 2950X was threadripper. They basically overtook that spot with an AM4 chip.
God damn.
AMD has competition against NVIDIA though so there’s that
Unless you've got a ton of PCI lanes, there's no point in not buying the 3950x
For half less. yay fuck intel.
I heard about a new GPU from AMD that’s gonna wreck the market
I'm probably going with an NVIDIA card next year, but I really want AMD to take the spot
mm
I'm team red at heart
5800XT?
Not sure what if was,- I believe so?
or the 5500XT or whatver
AMD needs to make better drivers before I switch
5500 is competition with 1660 series
Real question is when AMD can make a 1080Ti
^
Nah it was 5800XT or some more better one
There is a card that's called in AMD notes the "Nvidia killer"
I'm curious what that is.
Now what would the so-called “NVIDIA killer” going to be competiting against GPU wise
Ray tracing probably?
Something making the game seem less pixelated?
Unless Nvidia has balls to the wall performance with the new 7nm chips I foresee AMD catching up.
oh shit didnt know they already had it.
yeah RIS is out
They had it for like
and it's better than the Nvidia alternative
A long time lol
Ive never really looking into AMD GPUs since the R9 380s or whatever they were called back then
ah
I've focused my attention mainly on their processors when Ryzen first dropped
they're effectively better than the 2060S/2070S
Instead of better light reflections, it’s supposed to make the graphics less pixelated
yeah so basically amd just yoinked the fuck out of the lower end lineup
I saw them as a budget option when I was building mine lol
I knew AMD was gonna eventually come out of the mid end lineup at least
100$ less than 2070S, and you've got yourself at least 20 more frames
But I went with the blue and green guys in the end
Like, just being in mid end forever isn’t fun
so it was best ppp
specs pls senior
2600, RX570
Kek
(see 1060 3GB)
👀 that not bad tho
it's not really
7700K and 1060 3GB here
It’s not being fun to me anymore since it’s kind of weak to handle games now
Ryzen 1800X and RTX 2080 here
I get some stutters every now and then
I got fucked with my CPU.
Got "i-fived" hard back in 2016
oh shit
Mine or flakes?
2080 man
@cedar fulcrum
old pc was a 2500k and a HD5670
Mine was average shitty office PC
Dude the 2080 isn’t as bad as people told me it was gunna be
It’s a fucking great card in performance
Price and perf is better than 2080 Ti lol
But the best in 2080Ti
Not in price though
Screw price
yeah but who wants to spend the extra 400$
Fuck that 1200-1500$ price
I want PAWER
it's not worth it
Paw Paw 4K
You know what I'm mad at? Fucking fans on the x570 chipset.
Off topic slightly but ooooooooooooh that still makes me mad that I'm going back to the 90s with my next board
Yea the chipset is actively cooled
wut
if the X670 boards (assuming they come out next year) doesnt have fans I'm going to rage so hard
the chipset is too hot
Oh okay
it never reached over 60c or something
Yea it's bullshit
The only reason I can see it needing the fan is if you're running two nvme m.2 drives in raid. That might put enough pressure on the chipset to need a fan.
basically, it doesn't need fans
Chipset is the uhh
chipset sends instructions from cpu to gpu and ram and storage
^
AM4 pretty much, correct
(depending on northbridge or southbridge however)
on the Mobo?
AM4 is the socket
Oh okay
wow
yeah, on the mobo
Then idk what the fuck is the chipset
and apparently that's completely bullshit
Damn
Your CPU uses the LGA 1151 socket Harold.
"n a computer system, a chipset is a set of electronic components in an integrated circuit known as a "Data Flow Management System" that manages the data flow between the processor, memory and peripherals. It is usually found on the motherboard" - Wikipedia
yeah
it's the thing on the mobo that ties everything together
The thing?
Basically the brain if you want to call it that
Chipset located here on X570 boards
Think of it like a rudimentary cpu
it's what your bios runs off of before you boot into your os
Oh okay
it controls your ram and other hardware
Well it it run too hot, it's good it got a fan no?
yes and no
A small headsink would have done the same job.
Gigabyte was smart and on the Aorus Xtreme boards used a heatpipe connected to the chipset. Cooled it using the overkill VRM headsinks.
It's the only passively cooled X570 board outside of watercooling
It's also E-ATX and something like $700
So it's not really cheap.
never gets over temp so I have no fuckn clue why manufactures don't just do that outside of not wanting to pay the production costs
Gigabyte X570 Aorus Xtreme board
Chipset circled in blue
Heatpipe in red
VRM heatsinks in green
Hm
Its a simple solution
but manufactures dont want to do it
This is is the ultimate board for the 3950x tho imo
14 phase vrm goodness
Look clean too
Ikr?!
I like it
Heard it does damn great
Thats 700 buddy
XD
It's gotta look the part
Instead of buying a rebrand, it’s quality over just looks
Sooo 1000$ CAD
Basically LOL
Gigabyte is the best right now in X570 boards
They're murdering the competition with what you get for the prices
While the other motherboards got fucking god damn RGB and lights and shit
This one has little RGB, and is done correctly
Their BIOSes suck ass though
F
I wish there would be stuff that is purely performance, with no RGB
Gigabyte likes menus in menus in menus in menus in menus in menus in menus in menus in menus in menus in menus in menus in menus
The 50,000.01$ PC?
@chrome chasm I agree
Just get a black board with nice designs, no RGB, and great specs
my mobo has a white strip on the edge
But oh wait
My Z170 has no RGB lol
RGB is apparently the total shit it makes specs 5000x faster
Don't really care for it, but it's there
I like RGB when done tastefully. I have a thing for synthwave themes
lemme get a pic of my setup so far
Fucking white LED parts
why no white :(
It simulates discord light mode then
I love them
But it’d be great to have setting for brightness
hoping to get a 144hz soon
Same
Going for a 1080p 144hz or maybe even a higher refresh rate if I can afford it
I have two, one is better but not 144hz and I can’t run anything on 1440p 144hz yet anyways lol
Gonna go with 1080p 144hz as well
It gives me this
maybe a little fuzzy but nothing not playable
yeah I'm hoping for one with my birthday/chrismas combo
Annoying ass warning to change resolutions
LMAO
