I assume there will be different missions or expeditions, just as PAYDAY games had you choose your "heist", but in the same underground complex, just different areas of it. My question is, when our scavengers go down to the complex, they go in, get the stuff, and get out. What they are doing, are forced to do repetitevly? Like when you finnish one expedition in story, the second one comes right after? Or every mission is not related to the other, and it's always a "one time job"?
I guess I would like to hear comments from the scavengers while they "zipline" down the complexes. Like "the last time was living hell, can't believe we going again" from one of the dudes
then Dauda with that thick African accent answers some stuff and someone stops them by yelling. Disstressed.

This is a bit of a stretch, but will there be any Left for Dead esque pinning mechanics? Like, special monsters which can trap a player and must be killed by a teammate?
So since GTFO levels are procedurally generated what rewards do you get for beating a level, what's going to keep me coming back other than the cool atmosphere and the pew pew's?
I guess I'm asking if there's any meta progression? Like new guns, perks, upgrades although I'm aware that you want to keep the players feeling vulnerable.
Also I'm very doubtful about it but would there ever be a level editor/creator that players could make and share? If that was possible, with enough manpower and time you could create something along the lines of "Mighty Quest For Epic Loot" but that would be such a massive tangent from the game's current direction that it's probably not worth even considering.

The levels are not procedurally generated in game, they are maps created with procedural generation

Yes, it's only in the Complex, but the levels will be varied. We don't know how much though

A thing I asked earlier, do missions take place in a chronological order, and our scavengers mention it between missions, like when they lift down to the complexes as seen in the trailer.

- We are working to get full support for extreme aspect ratios, with the HUD stretching correctly.

There will be FOV options, yes. As in most games, you'll be able to set your vertical FOV within a certain range, and then your horizontal FOV will depend on the aspect ratio of your monitor.
You can use this website to calculate your horizontal FOV based on vertical FOV and the aspect ratio of your monitor: http://themetalmuncher.github.io/fov-calc/
Online Horizontal / Vertical Field of View calculator and converter for games, including popular monitor setup presets.
We haven't decided yet the exact range of the vertical FOV setting.
I'm sure it can be adjusted later, after actual feedback on it.

In Quake, you can set the FOV to just ridiculously high levels. I'm quite sure we'll put a cap on that.
Imo it should atleast be 110-120 max
Keep in mind that FOV is more used for wide screens and connecting multiple screens into one, which is called SURROUND in the NVIDIA Settings.
I know these are 2 different games entirely, but are we going to see anything similiar to RE:2 in terms inventory management or Ammo management? Where every bullet actually counts?

120ยฐ vertical FOV on a standard 16:9 monitor is 144ยฐ horizontal FOV, that's absurd. I find it hard to believe we'll go that far.

The UI in the trailers, teasers, and other gameplay is still a work in progress and is not final. Simon has stated this several times over the past few months, so its safe to assume that they are still tweaking it.

That's how the story is explored/revealed, yes, you could say so. But it isn't traditional story missions. We'll reveal how all that works at a later date.

Per difficulty:
Simon: There will be ways to adapt the difficulty to your ability, or increase the challenge if you like pain, but it won't work as in other games where it's just an option in the lobby screen.

That's what the trailers literally scream, a private scavenging firm hired by someone higher up (maybe?) to secure something valuable, risking their lives and only the "basic" weaponry and gadgets available. That's one of the things that caught my attention when I first saw the trailer. Also the resource/bullet management, not having near to infinite ammunition.
From what I understand, and this is my speculation based on tidbits I've heard. You're a prisoner that's been sent on a mission for the Warden, persay an unknown entity. To collect a speific item.
So.
Tac ops missions done with untrained prisoners who probably are on death row or something.
That's the vibe I get.

Yeah, no hunger/thirst/stamina. All you will have to manage is your health, ammo and how much noise you make. And trust me, that's quite enough in GTFO!

It means just modding in general. There won't be any modding tools, workshop, etc. It's still technically possible to create mods, it'll just be harder to do and distribute.

Well for Games with high rpg-focus and dialoque options its always a good thing if you can put yourself better in charakters shoes by selecting your own gender (like mass effect). But I don't see my future self in gtfo arguing with potatoblood-tentacle-boy wther or not it would rise his reputation by letting us pass unharmed.
Well GTFO isn't high RPG focus game with dialog options. And although I can only speak for myself, it didn't even enter my mind to boycott a game like Horizon Zero Dawn because of the main character's gender. I enjoyed that game immensely. If we're to discuss this further, let's take it to #general

how much ammo will turrets consume per shot? is there any way we can modify our "tools' like upgrading the detector and caliber of the turrets. ect?

Can you escape the horde? Like if you have sense of survival and you leave your team to die when you get spotted and the horde comes after you, will they wallhack your location or will they pretty much stop after they kill rest of the team?
Basically can you hide from there or once you are spotted you either die or kill them?

teammates will stay downed until you save them and you will need them all to keep advancing
Also @blissful badger While you can't leave your team to die stealth is dynamic based per player, so if you stay hidden and your teammates go loud the horse won't automatically sense you. However in horde like events to get through APEX doors I'm not sure if this changes since it's a forced loud event.

Do we have any idea when a beta will be available? I am an ambassador already, but was more less just curious.
Currently we don't know the timeline for the beta.
The launch of the game is scheduled around Spring 2019 so before that is our best guess.
I asked Ludvig, one of the developers about their plan with the BETA. He said they would like to make the BETA and actual BETA, to fix bugs and issues from feedback. Unlike EA or Activision puts out "a gloryfied demo" for pre-orders. So if we are lucky, we can get the BETA in March, but the game will most likely release around a month after that. This is not confirmed tho.

I asked about the Underground Complex, about its purpose from before it was overflown by monsters. We concluded that it must have been for mining all though nothing explains why are there so many artifacts.
"8) Will there be bots to fill out teams of less than 4 players?" I understand the answer- but I kind of have a question about it.
Two major scenarios (the first have sort of mini-scenarios with the same outcome):
-
Unable to enjoy or even play the game due to lack of group.
a. Players who either don't get to play games on the same schedule as their friends
b. cant get friends to purchase (uninterested, poor)
c. simply don't have any friends to play this game with. -
matchmaking with incompetent/deserter players.
These type of scenarios and these type of co-op only games seem to get stuck in a vicious cycle type of situation. I've seen it happen to a number of games
You start with a small but healthy community (1100 on discord- not too shabby!)
your number will always shrink after launch. its just a reality of the game industry- you make get peaks but it always levels out.
-you will lose original core community due to bugs, network, loss of interest, etc etc.
-the numbers of available players lowers which puts strains on matchmaking success (waiting too long in lobby)
-which then reduces the number of complete teams to complete missions.
-Simultaneously increasing the matchmaking queue to find a whole team
-New players get frustrated with wait and quality of players once in match
-Experienced players get frustrated with wait and quality of players once in match
-simultaneously decreasing the number of complete matches due to rage quit or just frustration
-which decreases the number of match success
-which decreases interest in waiting in the lobby (to start a mission knowing theres an 80% chance you won't finish the match due to other flaky players.)
-which in turn discourages current players
-which in turn discourages new players
so on and so on.
What do you guys have in mind to remedy this very real risk with your game model?

Don't get me wrong- I don't think this game will fail. I'm just curious if you are aware of this and have a plan in place to counteract it.

@grand cloak The main target audience are people who already play in teams. You will be able to play with randoms but we're well aware that the experience will not be as good as if you're playing with teammates that you have experience and shorthand with.
As little fun as it would be, I could imagine those few people who try and find a way to succeed in playing GTFO with only 1 or 2 people (because you know there's going to be at least 1 person who tries) and they become masters at the game
Also, we don't think that the game will peak at launch and then decline, that hasn't been the case with all previous games we've been involved with so we don't believe that's "the reality of the game industry." We have a solid plan for updates to the game - something that no other game has tried - that we think will make people very intrigued and we think word-of-mouth will catch on.
I can't reveal what the update plan looks like right now, but we'll reveal that when the time comes.
with games such as insurgency sandstorm and various other games having realistic ammo and you guys are talking about ammo being scarce my question is will the ammo be mag based or will it be you can reload 1 bullet if you wanted to

I have question about internet connectivity issues. For example playing warframe need up to 100 mb for 3-4 hours of playing. But Apex Legends needs up to 400 mb for same time. What about traffic use in GTFO?
that's an out of my ass guess but apex has lots of people on 1 server whereas gtfo will have only 4 people. even warframe can have more people, so my guess would be between little lower than warframe to about equal to it

Yes, but it look like one of those rapid shooter where controller won't be of much help. But if you want to chill with some friend then sure play controller.

I'm actually curious about the spectating system:
- Will spectators be chained to either a first or third person on their remaining teammates?
- Will there be a free roam option/free roam locked to rooms where the players are in totally free ghost mode? Are you concerned with people using free roam to exploit scouting?
- Do spectators get better vision in the harder to see areas?
- Why am I asking so many questions?

There's no spectating because A) you're never really out of the game since you're really only waiting to be revived (you only really die when the entire team wipes) and B) as you say, a spectator mode could easily be exploited.

i think the sleeper is just a basic enemy that attacks you if you disturb it, and the floaty feelers makes the sentry (i might be wrong on the creature's name) sound an alarm that wakes up sleepers and calls enemies from other areas

Regarding the welcoming nature of GTFO to new players, will there be an actual tutorial level or maybe give an easy difficulty for some simple expeditions? Like in PD:TH, 2 heists can be played on Easy to learn the basics?

on classes: characters themselves don't get "a class," but you do each select a certain unique piece of gear that acts as "your class"
The game uses a wide variety of colors in some areas, so I guess you will make colorblind filters?

@royal stream re performance: We have been making an effort to keep up to date with the newer versions of unity to be able to use some of the new features and optimizations you can get from that.
Unity has a fairly good profiler where you can measure what is "expensive" in terms of performance, so it is mostly up to us to deliver on performance=)
We're also pretty strict when we are doing our optimization passes, I think the rest of the team can attest to the number of times we've found a framerate-hog, sworn a lot and thrown the an old, crappy system for a newer and much quicker one.

Unity does nothing, it can be on almost any system, just how the game will be developed, is the developer's thing.

Well, it is a hardcore 4 players coop horror shooter.
You will die and retry so many times it will take a couple of hours.
I guess you play to make a progress, level up, gather better supplies, play on harder difficulties.

As far as I can tell, endless replayablity, we don't know much about how you progress in the game, there might be "skill trees" like in PAYDAY, or unlockables or something like that. There is very little info on that, and I doubt the devs would leak more.

if nothing changes each run the game will be very boring very fast as soon as patterns are learned it becomes repetitive

@glossy ocean If I remember conversations correctly, they're planning on having several different maps, and a decent portion of enemy spawn locations will be randomized. Each map I believe(?) will also have different objectives each time you're sent down
The Devs are in fact the best people to answer that question though because there is a decent chance i'm wrong
because a game is repetitive doesn't mean it's boring, osu!, LOL, CS:GO, etc... in all these games you do the same thing again and again, but they are the games people spend most of their time, that's also what payday is about (mostly) and what I expect from a "hardcore coop fps"
Those games are also competitive though so that's something worth mentioning, GTFO and Payday are really cooperative and while PD2 was easy to crank 500+ hours into that was only enabled by the constant flow of updates and content.
We will be keeping GTFO interesting with regular, free updates.

@craggy pier if the game Is Solid, no problem repeating It. For example, Escape From Tarkov have Always the same Maps but the experience Is Always different because what happens in the Maps Is Always new. I think the Spirit of this thing Is here... Coop banter, Crazy situations, etc.

No reload animations. Not on release.
While I myself find it weird I can understand why. There is a dozen of different guns, and its a small developement team. 9 people and only 1-2 people work on animations.

This is pretty old information, so it might have changed a bit. I doubt the game will have fully procedural levels, though.

There are no classes, everyone can get everything, as far as the unlock system idk much
And as far as difficulty, teamwork is a must, you barely have ammo so cant go spray & pray, and health is scarce

I mean TF2 was also made by Valve and no one really has ever wondered how Valve pays it's bills. Even back when TF2 was in development They had Half Life, GoldSRC, and upcoming Source and Portal which eventually got formed into The Orange Box. 10CC is a brand new company entering an entirely changed market that expects games like this to be a service and no one has really seen a service game be completely free. The Nintendo point also is different. Different time, Nintendo has countless completely original IPs they make games for, and they charge 60 dollars for almost every game. They also make money on Console sales, you literally pay Nintendo 300 dollars to buy and play their games. Which is fair don't get me wrong, but it's not the same as GTFO and 10CC.
I think what people don't consider is how much they undervalue raw game sales as a revenue stream in the current gaming industry where people have grown used to games as a service.
But you still admire them for making quality games, and there are low level dlc's that support the devs.

@craggy pier The Devs have to playtest the game over and over and over and over, it's part of the process of creating a game. You have to play it so much to the point you get sick of it just to make sure it works how it was intended to. Developing new assets, etc.

Last word I got was that depending on how much the devs get done, GTFO may or may not be at E3. I'd hedge toward no at this point, but it's still early. The actual start of Spring is still 3 weeks off, and E3 is June 11-13 (which is techincally still spring; Summer does not technically start until June 20/21).
