So I keep using the combat shotgun since I'm trying to find a weapon better than the MG despite its nerf, and honestly I hate it. It and the basic shotgun are just not good enough compared to the revolver and MG.
The range is far too low, the damage isn't high enough either.
Its been a problem since the last alpha test on shotguns underperforming.

Shotgun sentry is better, but if I had to choose between it and mines I would still pick mines almost every time except for when its maps like the reactor room.

@indigo nest dont defend the reactor room the waves always spawn at the start area of the mission. So find a very small corridor and set up their turn. Have the host sit at the terminal and type in the code

I want to love this game but the gunplay still feels...bad. I don't get it since Payday 2's weapons felt so solid.
I feel that. Generally you want to avoid using your guns, but when they (pretty much) make you with the alarm doors they don't really feel good. If not for the hit markers I can't really tell if I am hitting something, and the dmr especially just feels wrong to use. I still really enjoy the game with my friends, but I just want you to know you're not alone
yes true ive only played this game for like 2 rounds but i can tell that the weapons are too soft they need more more impact and a lil more onscreen feling when they firer

I've only got 17 hours in the game, so I probably have no clue what I'm talking about
Right, for such large weapons they feel like they have no real meat to them. When you HAVE to bust them out I feel like they should have some heft and power.
Something for me that's more of a personal thing than a game issue is it doesn't feel like a satisfying difficulty, it sorta feels a bit unfair. I've gotten past the first room in A1 once out of some 10-odd tries. I play with the same 3 friends that I beat the alpha with on our 2nd try, so it's not like we don't know what we're doing.
I enjoy difficult games, like Cataclysm difficulty on Vermintide, Death Sentence on Payday, Dark Souls, Cuphead, Crash Bandicoot. I love difficulty in games when it feels rewarding and satisfying to accomplish something in. I honestly don't feel the same sense of accomplishment with GTFO right now, it just feels like more of a "finally." And that really upsets me, because I want to love this game and I absolutely love how transparent and interactive the Devs all are, so I will 100% support them by getting 4 copies of the game on launch, I just really hope for more

"quick to kill" isn't the issue here, I use pistol and revolver, they do go down really quickly
The issue is they don't feel like they have any impact to them, they hardly kick, and landing headshots just seems like hitting any other shot

I've never solo'd the maps, but I have beaten all of them, Alpha included. (I have no interest in playing solo)
My squad and I were able to beat the alpha on our 2nd attempt, and beat it a few more times after, but this A1 we have only made it past the 1st room one time, and died not long after in the fog room after you get the key
I'll agree, stealth is.... Quite OP once you learn how to utilize it.

Yeah exactly. If it's not quick to kill I want it to at least feel like it's firing a ton of small rounds rapidly and with some decent sound. Having the smaller impacting making the bodies at least twitch would at least add to the feeling that you're not firing illuminated nerf dots.
Yeah, idk if we were just in the zone or what, but the alpha wasn't nearly as hard as everyone else was making it out to be, while last night we gave up on A1 because of how many times we died to the very 1st alarm door.

@graceful laurel Statistics don't lie, people struggled HARD with the alpha. I share your feeling though on the alpha. After I solo'd the alpha playing with other players was a total joke.
I am surprised you struggled initially at the first alarm door since its only like 4 scans max.
We may have just been tired or not really feeling it, but we only got 2 of the PIDs and 1 keycard
On our furthest run
So the door with the alarm has 1-2 IDs and the key for the door on the left which has the majority of the keys.
Right, we figured that much out on that 1 run
And the door in front is the scout path with roughly 5-6 ids
but died very soon after getting the key, in the fog room

You can't ping enemies can you? (Middle mouse button) I think I tried and it wouldn't work. Do you guys think it should be a thing? The items/entities that you can ping just seem kinda limited which makes the feature feel like it's lacking potential

I feel like it was more of a challenge then the level they gave us in the alpha test! Don't get me wrong it was fun, but holy crap!
A1 had quite a high skill floor for new players
there is 1 particular room in northern part of A1 that gave us problems
I felt like A1 was easier. But again personal opinion.
there is 1 spot in B1 that makes defense close to trivial
lots of running required to fill up ammo but still, nothing really dangerous or stressful
but i was lucky to get into party with experienced guy who knew that spot, i'd imagine it's much harder if you def close to reactor
The resource dice roll on B1 will make a difference on how the mission will go.

Any info about progression system on EA launch?
I am a bit confused on some things, are we going to see a weapon attachment system (such as optics, grips, mag size).
I also heard that there are more weapons, how will we acquire these new weapons, will it be rewards, will it be random finds in a mission, will it be a mission to find weapons?
Also I hear something about upgrading tools, how will this work?
Also how will lateral missions work? Like running mission A2, A3 and such, will it have it be so that we have to go back in and clear A1 to reach A2? or will we go back into A1 which is now empty and make our way to A2?
i think you can play in any order of the first floor
when you finish all A floor (or section) you may enter B floor
You need to complete expeditions in order. If A2, A3, and B2 are visible then you need to do in that order.
it's strange that in the video devs put up i saw that they could have enter C3 without playing C1 and C2 at 1:40
In their dev build they can enable what that want for testing and they probably skipped the others

@abstract ingot during the beta there was an attachment you could find, About weapons and tools, (not sure if its confirmed) you basically find these as you explore the area but the deeper you go, you'll likely get a better chance of it being there
which brings it around in a nice way such that you run the risk of either exploring the entire area in hopes of finding more and/or better loot aside from either wanting to complete the level earlier or move toward completing the area sooner.

Wait, what attachment was in the beta? I saw no system for attachments
not a direct system like you might get in other fps games to kit the character's gear out but it was a flash light (long range) and it just switched it over i believe from what the team mates said. I never actually got it myself

Well just make sure you take note on how to work the tea equipment, every tank has one
and that is the most british thing i can think of
me and my SO love WW1 and WW2 history
durring WW2 around 1/3rd of all deaths of a british tanker was outside the tank, mostly due to them starting fires to make tea

There was an event where i think it was 4 tanks crews were out making tea and were ambushed, this allowed the germans to capture the tanks without a battle, these tanks were then used by the germans and had a great effect due to the allies not knowing about them being captured
it was a big point for the british because it forced them to think about making tea inside the tank and lead to the VBE (commonly called BV for boiling vessel)
which also can serve as a place to heat up meals
those kind of stories are more frequent than people know though, I believe the poles did that with a few German Tanks, although they actually got involved in combat, interestign no the less about the tea making facilities though. Nice one 😉 well it ain't gtfo discussion so wacth out for the mods ;p and I gotta go bed. Laters bud
@gaunt tinsel The long ranged flashlight is not an attachment, its just one of the "consumable" items you can carry.
The alpha had all of them, those being the c-foam grenades, glowsticks, and the flashlight.
A1 doesn't have any of those tools, and B1 had the flashlight.

The very first room with the alarm @full peak has 1 tool kit 1 medkit and 1 ammopack all with one use.

I found the bio-tracker the best tool in the game, marking moving targets was a huge help, and knowing whats on the other side of the door helped, along with knowing how close everything was, I would find groups that needed 3 or 4 of use to kill at the same time or risk waking them all
They seem extremely adamant on not taking any money until they deliver the product @somber tide
that's fine by me, everyone does it differently.
Bio tracker is underrated, but is definitely limited in usefulness in currently released missions

For the current content in the game, biotracker is by far the weakest tool.

I felt the AR had too much kick, 20m away and your 2nd shot would miss from a center mass shot
The damage of the AR was good, and the optics of it felt right, but the recoil was bad
but not as nearly as bad as the MachineGun
Machine gun I think is intended to be one trick though almost
So, from all my experience with the alpha and beta (75hours) I rate the weapons like so: Pistol/smg, DMR, AR for primaries. MG/Rev, C. Shotgun, Sniper, Shotgun for secondaries.
The machinegun is in a horrid state currently, a long windup time followed by very very high amounts of recoil, with a tiny little mag
Like the sniper is the anti-scout...
I think maybe the MG is being balanced toward the anti-giant - where accuracy isn't as crucial
I decided to bring the MG back up to first place as when you get familiar with the nerfed version of it, its still better than the revolver.
Just have to get used to the dumb charge time.

The revolver is a great gun if you have great aim, I found it had a 1 shot headshot mechanic

run what you like, but most teams i ran with ran one sniper for scouts. Everyone typically runs one weapon with good ammo efficiency and one with high damage
also for tools, we used to run mine, turret, cfoam, and scanner; but once our team got comfortable with enemy sounds and stealth, we switched our bio scanner to another turret
@vivid girder in no way is this the best way to run per say, it is just how we did it. feel free to experiment and most of all have fun!

I agree with most of that. Two sentries was also very good instead of mines, but I found mines were more efficient with a Cfoam'd door to assist.
Sniper for scouts is required IMO, but we did swap off in both beta missions because we were able to ignore the scouts in that A1 and there aren't any in that B1
Mines are definitely a must-pick. Placing them on doors is incredibly effective, whether you have foam or not.
My team ran 2 Burst Sentry, 1 Bio Scan, 1 CFoam, Worked well, we got 11/12 keys, but we didn't have to much time to play.

Problem is the door requirement and once thats gone its over. Sometimes we got forced to fight close to a security door and there was no closable door. Sentry is more 'always good'.

There's one new weapon, combat shotgun, which is a magazine fed fully automatic shotgun

Not entirely sure how I feel about the rundown feature. I mean, I like it conceptually, but at the same time that means we'll eventually be locked out of older levels that we might like to revisit later on. Is there going to be a way to access older level after they're no longer in rotation?

@shell kernel Are the name ids for doors and keys not independent of each other? The names of the key and the door themselves dont matter. Yet a door can only be opened by a specific key.
@harsh jasper I thought they weren’t independent. I thought they were linked by key to door name. My example was on the description of what key was listed on the security door was listing the completely wrong key # we collected to use
To be fair I havent been paying too much attention to the key and door names so far, so I might be entirely wrong. But I feel like it would make more sense if the names would not be connected in order to not be easily able to find out which key relates to what door from the terminal.

I’m pretty sure the numbers are irrelevant. Like how medacks are basically interchangeable, but they’re all labeled by a 3 digit code. So the important part is key_red, and all red keys are interchangeable.
But then why would the door ask for a specific red key? Hmmm.
I’m also pretty sure you aren’t supposed to get more than one color of keycard on any given level but I could be wrong.

Hi I would like to ask, I was doing C1 with friends atm.. we did all 8 rounds then it said get to the point of entrance of zone 62. but there was no marker or anything... so someone started reactor again and it started all over again... Did it bug out or something???
Sounds buggy. Once the rounds are finished you just go back to spawn and extract.

Let me just say, I really love the concepts behind the game and I am looking forward to seeing it progress towards v1.0 release.
However, I understand that GTFO is not meant to be a "run and gun" game; but, then, why are we forced to run and gun when we do the security scans?
Especially when we actually have to get the key card to a door, why does the security alarm still go off?
It would be different if we had to brute-force open the security door (maybe with a drill or powerloader).
Well basically it adds strategy to the game. You can't just hold m1 and hope everything okay
But, the security scans force us to do what the game clearly tells us not to: split up for the security scans while running and gunning.

I understand the game literally just came out for early access, but I am hoping that in the future, there will be "gear" that will allow players to have more of a "profession-style" gameplay.
Such as, the "medic" is better at using medkits.
or if you like using the sentry gun, you can "upgrade" it to make it more functional.
or perhaps if you love using melee, there might be some kind of "armor" mechanic added.
or the ability to block/parry enemy attacks
maybe you can upgrade your health regeneration to regenerate a larger amount of your base health.
a way to increase the melee charge speed would be cool too.
Faster sprint speed? (at the cost of damage resistance)
The point is: these kinds of "upgrades" could really improve game-play variety which will help out a lot during those forced and unavoidable firefights.
There will be some sort of progression system.
I hope the game eventually gets a map maker option. Would be interesting to see how sadistic the community is when it comes to that
@signal elbow I find its not all that bad. if you set up correctly before setting off alarms you barely have to fight that much. An alarmed scout is often far worse than a door alarm is

and failing at the end each time.
I have yet to complete it just due to the clusterfuck that is the last security door, and teammates going down a bit earlier than wanted.
It's frustrating, but yet I still want to play it.
