What is the role of the long range flash light if enemies are getting angry by the light?
Long flash lights or flash lights in general tended to set them off
taking a better look at the room in general
If you kill them fast enough when they’re separated from the rest of the room, the others wont notice

Long range flashlights will also be used for an environmental effect like fog.
Room will be pitch black and your regular lights won’t cut through it well enough.

Managed to get it done, with 3 of us after many many tries.
So question, can the revolver one-shot the scouter, cause I killed him once with one shot to the head, however the next 3 tries, he survived the headshot
I even heard someone say he oneshot that dude with a hammer. Others say the sniper is your only bet. With the revolver it probably depends on the range and if you really hit the exact spot
did anyone else kinda find more effective to run into rooms and jsut bash skulls before they even wake up

Yeah after you activate the alarm in the current room smaller scanning fields pop up (gotta follow some translucent white wires). Just gotta stand in all of them to deactivate the alarm
When the alarm is off you just gotta kill the rest of the horde
On a stream they asked the devs if you can melee kill the tentacle boys, dev gave vague answer, then they successfully did it. The wiki says it's possible too. I didnt manage it but I aimed for center mass so that's probably why
it can be done with 2 ppl

one thing I'm not certain about is that once we will develop skills to take those out due to narrow room design replay value will be low

so it means there should be multiple subtasks making it risk = reward or bigger designs to make re-routes which might get you in to deeper mess with delaying 'Meta' solutions by brute finishing each scenario in 1 correct way

yes and guys like me will develop strategies to kill everything once we will get a hang of each strat if we are not either given almost impossible to complete route which we absolutely have to avoid or ability to choose our routing in level
already went same path in Pay day 2, we ended up going 1 meta way to complete top difficulty and replay value died for us there right away until some of us finished most achieves

We often snuck through heavily populated rooms without killing anything, just get the good and move on. Other groups went in hammers blazing with minimal losses. Both options worked out, with the third option being stealth killing everything

There are options already. There will be a lot more when the devs aren't putting out a small slice of gear and not all of the enemies
yet again, this isnt full release. its a networking test. features are missing, stuff isnt calibrated. Alphas arent meant to be "played", theyre mainly aimed at testing things and finding critical bugs.
Would be nice to see some game mechanics to stop it feeling like Zombie Golf (Like being able to unlock fixed gun turrets etc (which would be challenging in itself) just so you dont have to "doink" everything on the head)

Considering who made it, I imagine there will be a variation of melee weapons later on. That's one thing that I think would make a good difference
A throwing spear where you get like two of them only, but take as long to charge as the hammer but can take out sleepers from range. Then if you throw your second, you have no melee weapon until you recover it. Something like that. But I'm sure they'll be messing with range/charge up time at the very least, since those are listed stats on hammers
My wish regarding melee already came true. The weapons are seperate and not just a button for 1 swing 💙
That would help, but the same tactic every room might get a little old - Although, of course, we don't know what other nasty enemies there that have yet to be released
The frantic fights feel epic though and kudos to 10C for getting so much atmos and polish in an Alpha... Sure there are a couple of bugs... but still, we're having a blast

Agreed, but I don't know how they've balanced it, but it feels spot on... Epic fights are epic... but you know every bullet is one you'll wish you had later... Really great.... A little more incidental dialogue would be awesome, but again for an Alpha, outrageously good.

Hello, I managed to Solo half-way through a session, ama.
Question: What about the other half? 😄
I found a door that set off a wave and promptly merked my ass despite having sentry guns up.

It does feel like it's doable though, the stealth and sneaking around is probably most enjoyable doing solo, and having the 'puzzles' be something you have to work out is also very enjoyable.
Oh when its the first alarm door its not 50% 😄

Scouts are pretty scary, i wont spoil them but if you see them. Dodge and sneak as best as you can

They also go unkillable when they do there explosion to wake the sleepers

After multiple failings with my friends on Monday. Yesterday I joined strangers here in Discord (by p2p, because my client is "closed"). And we finished the mission first try (obtained the core DNA sample and successful extraction). When we found the sample we were very low on ammo and health, but instead of risking a run, we left the sample and went back to explore. We found ammo and health and then got the sample and extracted fine.

For primary weapons you have a pistol, SMG, DMR (designated marksman rifle), and assault rifle. Special weapons include a shotgun, revolver, sniper, and machine gun. Tools include a bio tracker, foam launcher (door reinforcement), mine deployer, and sentry turret. All the melee weapons have the same attributes and just look different.

Pistol is actually pretty nice and balanced, plus it gets a lot of ammo compared to the other weapons
Assault Rifle is pretty nice too. But you have to make every shot count

hey guys did you know that the sleepers arent mindless beasts as supposed they would be? i was playing solo yesterday and when one detected me, he POINTED AT ME with a finger while screaming. they are actually intelligents o_o
They don't seem to just attack sound alone though. An I think the trailer left a lot of us with the "hive mind" theory once the infection sets in.

There's a lot of possibilities... Sadly until we see more action, different environments, and enemies. We'll probably never figure it out for sure. XP
yeah its really possible. they even avoid attacks, and can overrun you with strategies if you arent careful, seriously that make them a real threat.
There's some animals that use their sense of touch to locate prey / dangers / terrain simply by physical movement - vibrations. Others, such as bats which use echo location. An since its in the future with cerebral nano injections, we can toss a whole boat load of sci to things into the mix.
Not to mention that some, if not most, of the infected... Are people who had said injections. So that opens up the possibility that they have all the same HUD/trabsmission capabilities as us just in a different sense. Hence the "hive mind" ability even with new hosts.
Really could go on for hours. XD

we still dont know what other types are down the complex. we know about the shadows and the "tongue", but probably exist even more.

The bugs I’ve seen are client side only mostly and one that happens to everyone
And those are the alarm alert playing on map restarts if you died as a nonhost, and for battle music to be playing if you died as a nonhost
And the resupply packs randomly bug out for the whole match but will fix when you stand near random doors and lockers

Dont pull enemies until that point
Reinforces the doors, use the sentry and some mines
Yup just play stealth until u reach the first alarm post, you will have enough ammo then

before you could do [LIST 12] to pull all items on zone 12, or [LIST AMMO 12] to pull all ammopacks on floor 12

the stuff you write after [LIST] is filter parameters, you can have 2 of them separated by space
i have a feeling that LIST 12 pulling all stuff from zone 12 AND any item with 12 in its ID was a bug

you can't go above 100% (health and ammo) so the effort depends on the team's condition basically. If you need stuff, you search it, if no... GTFO.

autocomplete only completes commands themselves
like you type L and it will autocomplete into LIST
@drifting dock I mean more of a dropdown autocomplete, so if you type Query medipack_ and hit tab, it'll cycle through the numbers at the end

Known Issue for me: It is difficult alone. I wanted to see just how hard it would be solo (Mix of lack of friends and just preferring solo games) and I died quickly on my first attempt

@final dock You can stealth through almost every room, the only issue is that you will have to sprint by during extraction.
So its a good idea to clear out rooms that lead to the extraction point.
has anyone tested the glowsticks and what they do?
They just light an area up and unlike the flashlight it does not alert enemies. Almost useless, very situational.
Also only glow for about 60 secs
if the enemy with tentacles will find you, enemies will come running from all over, all over the location. Amazing

You need to not get touched by the tentacles. And the best method to kill it is with a headshot via the "Special Weapon - Sniper"
If you want to kill it in other ways then I recommend;
1: Foam it with a foam grenade or a foam launcher and then proceed to melee it to death vigorously at the head.
2: Stealth up to it (probably with two people) as fast as possible and charge-hit it in the face and pray you killed it before it starts it's invuln screech. :)
The moment the scout "alerts" to an enemy, it will become invulnerable (the blue thing) and you will not be able to do anything except cry and prepare for the horde. :)
FOAM will temporarily freeze enemies, regardless of what they are.
Popular tactics are to hold on to Foam Grenades specifically for the two bosses. That way you can melee kill them and not have to lug-around a sniper on one of your load-outs.

one shot isnt guaranteed to kill it right off
double tap to be safe, better waste 2 bullets than getting eaten alive
Then one of two things happened;
1: You lagged and it caused the hit to not properly register.
2: You either missed, or did not hit the head directly. Keep note that when the Scout is 'searching' it's head will slightly tilt and curl so it's not in the position you would normally expect it to be.
But yes, Double-tapping is your friend.
I haven't ever had a scout live after a OSOK Sniper shot, but... Other people complain that it does, so-- I always advocate for double-tapping and foaming.
It seems to go invincible after the first shot

it goes invincible the moment it lights up
If you go with a double-tap method you HAVE to insta-click. It will become invincible the very moment, like after 1 second, it notices enemies or gets hit.

I've never had a Scout live through a sniper shot before, not even once... Through maaaany playthroughs. But each and every one of those, was me as the host AND I was the one with the Sniper. So, I chalk those kind of 'issues' up to host/client latency.

if you do not headshot the scout, it will immediately turn invulnerable. You get ONE hit. From melee and guns
So just hammer it or snipe it.

Yeah obviously a full charge, but when i see that some of the base enemies sometimes survive that, i'm doubtful for the scout

@cedar tiger The Brute takes either 4 max-melees or 3-4'ish critical sniper shots.
The foam will still freeze him, but remember, it's only temporary.

there's also a period of time when sleepers will glow but will not do their fancy throbbing motion
if you attack a sleeper before nearby sleepers start doing the throbbing pattern but are glowing, does that also aggro them
If you attack and they are not sensing in the slightest. You will be fine. But depending on how close they are to the one you kill, they will hear the smack/death sound, and might awaken. You'll have about 1.5/2 seconds to kill them before they wake and screech.

The other expeditions will be of various difficulties, to our current knowledge. We only know that C1 is considered "Intermediate" for difficulty.

I think they're quite useful, but definitely need a buff. Same with the fog disperserators. They're competing with C-Foam grenades in the same slot.

Yeah they act like a sleeper while asleep, no different.
From what I can tell there is a distance that's so close it'll always alert the other, but if they're more than a few feet away, you can kill one as long as the other isn't glowing

I gotta say the failure routine in the game is getting irritating to the point of not wanting to play anymore:
start to first alarm - easy, as long as the communication is on point
first alarm - use up all your supplies to recover from the fight
second alarm - RIP, restart.

I now know the map mostly by heart for all the sectors before the first keycard and still have problems

difficulty can be toned down, supplies can be more plentiful. there's many ways to keep the balance.
It is very punishing and the scout invulnerability is definitely dumb and silly, but I like how tough it is. Coming back from a mistake is hard a lot of the time, but doable.
And of course we're also playing for the first time this week in what is not meant as a beginner's quest

Yeah the failed one shots are often just bugs, it seems, so that shouldn't be a problem with the game as much as the alpha build

The headshot part sure, headshots clearly aren't kills on the melee ones and so far don't seem to be on the archers
But when you hit a sleeper with a full charge and destroy the entire torso but the legs keep attacking.. pretty sure it's a bug.
And considering the hit and kill markers are completely interchangeable for me, I just don't think hitreg and damage are consistently calculated

I've seen it twice with the small guys but I've seen people here saying it's happened plenty with the titans

The best way to kill scouts is a sniper shot to the head
It seems to be working half of the time when they have their tendrils out, i wait for them to go back to walking to shoot, worked every time after making that change
I've made it through two alarms in a run, it's all preparation and movement
Personally I dont even like taking sentry guns that much as I feel like the mine gun is a lot better, though less versatile. Once the alarm starts just move quick and dont feel like you have to stand your ground

If you're getting overrun, move around the room. The second alarm is much easier

I just finished the map with my friends by clearing every single room before we finally got the DNA
if you kill every single monster and then grab the DNA, it just ends.

I cleared zones 10 11 12 13 14 and 16 entirely in my solo run and I had a massive swarm hit me at extraction
They definitely spawn more enemies
But not 15?

The other alarms do not just draw them from nearby, they spawn them. Why would it scan for current enemies in order to spawn more?

Well, we will find out later on, we done playing for now, we killed literally everything, no point in playing again lmao
On my last good run, we got into 15 and found a terminal.. a person had a glitch so he left and came back, and he's the one that used the terminal
Because him leaving reset his objective, when he pinged the HSU, it told us to go to 16 and we all got a new objective
We looted every medipack, tool refill, and ammo refill on the map
interesting.
We've beat it 4 times now, so we are done until probably like beta or w/e
So we had to do a third alarm with all of the doors already broken in
Time to solo it! Or duo. It gets a lot more interesting and difficult.
Point is though, it was still spawning them en masse from the adjacent rooms
Oh yeah, the door alarms absolutely spawn enemies
100% on that. We cleared all the way way from 10 through 14 and we still had enemies attack us when we opened 16
We cleared, 16, went back to 15, cleared that, then went back to 16, started DNA extraction, and then it just ended and we won.

You can tell if they are spawned in by their skin color. The pale ones are on the map from the start. The dark skinned ones are spawned by alarms and scouts.
I wonder if their skin colors mean anything lore wise

I don’t think they act any different but they definitely have different colors based on how they popped up on the map

If I had to guess, I'd say it's because they spawn in as a separate entity entirely. They have sleepers, and strikers, and they probably altered one without the other or something

The hammer does a significant amount of damage
If its a spitter giant I just hammer it to death though
They are incredibly inaccurate in melee so its a free kill

Okay did some testing
You can freeze tentacle boys with either the cryo foam launcher or a single grenade. One burst does it. Really easy to get a melee kill on them that way
Cryo grenades throw upwards of the reticle so for close up you have to aim really low
Also a single shotgun shell to the face works just fine

Holy hell, great job on the presentation for this game, devs. The atmosphere, hud, terminal stuff, etc all works together to do an amazing job of immersion.
Zone 15 was one of the most terrifying rooms I have ever seen in a game to be honest. I had never entered it until today since I always RNG zone 16
I just found my favourite bug xD
We finished an expedition (and survived) so we thought we would do one more. When we interacted with the sample it ended the game with expedition survived? We didnt have to escape 🤣
RNG is great and all, but should have some boundaries - having 4 (four) scouts patrolling a single room was the end of the expedition for us. 💀
rng is when both keys dont open the door
RNG is when you get eight Long-Range Flashlights back to back through multiple rooms. :)

yeah I had a key with the same color, but different number, and the other one was wrong

I have had some runs where Keys would change #ID's after picking them up. So I believe yuh, but it never stopped me from opening the door even if the # was different. >->

whenever we shoot him in the head with the revolver it doesnt die it just lives long enough to scream even with 4-5 shots in the head
use sniper it will kill in 1 shot to the head

Once it's alerted, it's invincible until the call goes off, so one-shots are the only option. Sniper or charged melee if you're feeling brave.
Tried charged meele. Unles you have to go specifically for the head, it does not kill him
Yeah I haven't been able to make it work either, but some people swear by it so I guess you have to hit it in the head.
But if it starts turning blue, just run. You can't damage it and just waste your ammo until it calms down again.

There needs to be a propper time window for you to do it though. Last time I had this happen the bottom half of a sleeper just immediately started blasting and woke up everyone else.

The act of killing something (an enemy dying) makes noise though
very little but enough to alert others if they're right next to eachother
Depends, if an enemy is facing another one and they're "breathing" at the time when you kill it then the one that's looking at you can aggro from over a double wide doors space away.
Else if you kill an enemy within like 2 characters distance from another, it will set off the other enemy regardless of their status.
Yeah when you get the duos and trios all touching butts, you gotta tandem kill them

I think that is part of why they must have left enemies live from melee, that way your team has to sync up and make sure they're dead innstead of you going full superhot and beheading them one after the other without setting any off.

Detection ranges appear to be inconsistent also, enemies aggroing for no apparent reason
when killing other aliens etc
the standing ones and the nodule heads (as opposed to claw heads) seem to have bigger detection ranges

We tested the first alarm door, and if teammates stand in the spawn area aliens don't spawn there which is nice, some sorta code that stops LOS spawning

Only me thinking low ammo? 4 members and even so we struggling to catch up ... using hammers most of time...stillnot enough ammo when the times go rough

How far are you making it in? Because I seem to average 1 ammo pack by alarm door 1, and an additional 2 by alarm door 2. Then there's always a bunch of stuff in z14.

4player is easier for sure
@sturdy marten there is no scaling, so whether you’re alone or with 4 it’ll have roughly the same difficulty.
I mean, it’ll be much harder alone but yeah
player count is the difficulty selector in this game

Heavy MG sure packs damage despite low ammo count
@granite lintel Late response, but amba just stands for ambassador - so only people with that role can see this chat
Heavy mg i s honestly one of the best secondaries imo
The MG is great. Easily takes down big guys and has the best crowd control of the secondaries by far
why is mg so good? i tried it out and been unimpressed, especially with the fact you need to hold down for a short while before it starts to fire
so you can't tap fire it to kill stuff accurately, just spray and hopefully hit stuff
Its clearly good for tearing down hards for its high stopping power
