So it seems like a good idea to me in the sense it will absolutely bring in a lot of new players on a steady basis. My concerns are will the game keep its current way of making revenue (i.e., players buying gold in game) or will kix be selling the game to new players (and old?) in the way most games are released on Steam? Will you be charging for updates or releasing them ongoing like you do now? There's a lot to unpack with a move to a platform like Steam.
#Moving War Commander to Steam

If you had listened to their podcast, you would know that it is not yet a confirmed thing yet, they are looking into it but its not a guarentee, so these questions will have to wait until it is confirmed
Once the decision is made there's no opportunity for forum discussion on questions like these. We discussed issues regarding missiles before the decision was made so why not this?
Your example is far from this one, Missiles are a feature they ask about as it is something currently present in game.
Steam port however is different, WC is Browser based so a version for steam would need to comply with Steam's rules and standards, the issue here is whether the code base is actually able to be ported without running into complications, thats why they said "looking at releasing it on Steam" not "we will release it on Steam"
They are not sure whether it can be done without requiring a ton of time and effort that outweighs the benefit of it.
Once it is announced that the plan is solid then sure, ask away, but for now, these questions are too soon to be asked right now
Let's just disagree on this. As you mention, there are a lot of differences between WC and and Steam games, but there is really no reason this can't be a topic of discussion now. Would WC still be a multiplayer online game only or would there become a single player option like most steam games? Would WC continue to exist in browser form indefinitely or for a period of time? And as I mentioned before what would be the revenue structure, i.e., no longer being free in basic format? Yes the move has not been decided but there is no reason players should not give their input on the potential changes that would be made. That said, I expect it won't be a decision that is made all at once, but Kix will release details of their ideas beforehand and likely give us an opportunity to weigh in.
If it is game structure, gameplay or anything related to that, they might share here, but what they are looking into is whether it can actually be moved there, why would they ask the players when just about everyone has said yes, when they get to a stage where they are confident that it can move there, then they can start talking about the points you are bringing up.
You just don't discuss House Furniture or decorations before you build the actual house.
To extend your metaphor, you don't buy a house without checking out the neighborhood. Without looking at the local taxes. Without checking out the school district. Etc etc. Again, let's agree to disagree.
Your extension only solidifies my point than prove yours
But sure, whatever you say i guess.
Huh? Your point was discussions about effects and impacts on the game come after decisions. Mine is they come first. Whatever.
No, it was about it being feasible or not, you should re-read
I tend to agree with Major it doesn't hurt to discuss. The mere fact they are consulting ignites curiosity what you do or don't discuss shouldn't be ignored, belittled or censored.
There is nothing worth discussing when it is not even a solid plan that they will move there, until they confirm that they will actually go to steam, nothing is worth discussing about it
