Sorting titles with non-English alphabet

So, my wiki is in French, and that language has 19 additionnal letters. 16 being letters using diacritics, and the last 3 being ligatures.

À -  - Ä - Æ - Ç - É - È - Ê - Ë - & - Î - Ï - Ô - Ö - Œ - Ù - Û - Ü - Ÿ

Those are all letters used in regular words as in the famous sentence:

Dès Noël, où un zéphyr haï me vêt de glaçons würmiens, je dîne d’exquis rôtis de bœuf au kir, à l’aÿ d’âge mûr, &cætera.

In my wiki, in the list of pages or in the category pages, some pages are not sorted properly due to these letters. Examples:

• Gardien des Portes → Glossaire → Gérard
• Mantau Jikam → Maître d'armes
• E pages → F to G pages → I pages → J to Z pages → Échiquier → Île inconnue

In the French alphabetical order, the diacritics are sorted with the regular letter, no matter what (Æ is sorted as AE, Œ as OE and & as ET). Is there a way to change the default sorting system without using DEFAULTSORT for a third of the pages?

I believe you'll have to submit a [[Phorge]] task to set $wgCategoryCollation to uca-fr for your wiki

You can't change it yourself; you'll have to submit a request for it to be changed for you 👍
