by interactive map, do you mean the interactive data map as seen on fandom? if so, enable the Interactive Data Map extension. if u need help with doing so, check out https://tagging.wiki/Map:Bloxburg, a map on my wiki
ive enabled the extension but im not sure how to actually use it
the mediawiki wiki says that i need to edit the localsettings.php but miraheze doesnt have a localsettings.php file
Ticking the box in ManageWiki enables it for you
You don't have to worry about wfLoad
It is as simple as enabling it in ManageWiki
ok so now how do i set up a map
i know with infoboxes theres code i have to make but is it the same for interactive maps?
There's some docs at https://support.wiki.gg/wiki/DataMaps
The DataMaps extension lets you display interactive maps using Leaflet without additional services.
The maps can feature:
circular markers, pin markers, or markers with custom icons;
rich marker details panes with Wikitext titles, descriptions, an article link button and an image;
an optional coordinate...
the should i be following the guide on the leaflet website or the using source editor guide. i dont have any coding experience at all so im a little lost on where to even start
Hi @quiet barn
A different way to simulate an Interactive map is to create a jigsaw puzzle of images ...
Say you have a map ... if the map were split into 2 images ... display them side by side
As an example, have the Left image do something different than the Right image ...
while i think i understand what you're suggesting, i would much rather have a map with clickable icons and markers. i understand its a lot more complicated to accomplish but it is what I am ultimately aiming for.
do you have any experience with the datamaps extension
i'll try to set up an example. it is basically an image button that one clicks on
the images can be arranged either by infobox or inside a table ...
Regarding Datamaps Extension ... No. I am not familiar with that extension.
Yes that's about right. I was trying to aim for something closer to what the Ark Survival wiki has
Sorry for such a late response I'm traveling for Christmas ATM
Or what the rdr2 map website is like
Can't share it for some reason
My hope is that I can put down icons on my maps and my wiki viewers be able to zoom in and out on the maps
