I don’t have push access to config but I can take a check

#

oh heh, we mentioned this in #tech

leaden kernel
#

Bahaha

cobalt lantern
#

pretty interesting to see someone from WMF here

#

pretty honored

#

might make a shrine

leaden kernel
#

ha. ha.

#

anyways

#

If this is the case, it may be better to remove by default because the vast majority of wikis don’t have a community noticeboard or infrastructure to report this

#

hell most dont have a css person

#

And the ones who do would be varied

cobalt lantern
#

well regardless, we’re going to override it locally through MirahezeMagic

leaden kernel
#

Should we make the message default to non link ask them to find an admin?

cobalt lantern
#

I’d direct them to the Community noticeboard

leaden kernel
#

Well most wikis don’t have one

cobalt lantern
#

er, I’m sorry, the “help desk”

cobalt lantern
leaden kernel
#

two generations out if date lmao

leaden kernel
#

My understanding is the button is for local specific styling issues

#

So why direct to meta

#

As I said

#

But directing to meta won’t be much use either

cobalt lantern
#

Help desk is the de jure place for help

leaden kernel
#

Mmmmmmmmmmm

cobalt lantern
#

anyway, OA claimed the task

leaden kernel
#

unless we want a new rfc for global interface admin I dont see much use in reporting epicmusicradiodiskfanon’s incomplete CSS on meta

#

but better then no where

cobalt lantern
#

there’s really no room for debate, help desk is the catch-all

leaden kernel
#

what the hell let’s do it

#

Worst case we go to plan gaslighting

azure river
#

You could also disable dark mode by default if that makes sense?

#
                                "logged_in":false,
                                "beta": false ];
leaden kernel
#

I’d rather not remove functionality personally

azure river
#

i'm not sure how "ready" wikis are on Miraheze and whether you need to communicate it's existence but that's definitely your call.

cobalt lantern
#

We aim to provide an experience as close to as out of box vanilla MediaWiki so while we wouldn’t force the default behavior change, we could probably offer an option in ManageWiki

leaden kernel
#

As someone who uses VecDark on enwiki I quite like it, plus would confuse people

azure river
#

you can also enable for anonymous users.

#

(the default is currently disabled for anons)

cobalt lantern
#

oh dear

#

color: black !important;

leaden kernel
leaden kernel
#

oh no

#

@cobalt lantern i got this dont worry

#

[[Special:Delete/Miraheze Meta]]

leaden kernel
#

god damn it my yubi key is like

#

uh

#

30 feet away

leaden kernel
#

anyways

#

we’re pointing the link globally to HD?

cobalt lantern
#

SRE will see to it

Most of it can be applied to any MediaWiki that uses templates.

A few gotchas:

  • It refers to certain classes such as skin-invert that might not exist in Miraheze wikis (until created).
  • I am not sure if Miraheze wikis support TemplateStyles and other extensions that may be needed.
Basically if any of the tips don't apply to your wiki you might need to install something, add some code to MediaWiki:Common.css or remove it from your own version of the docs.
leaden kernel
#

We have like 300+ extensions so may as well get th good ones too lmao

blasted auto mod

#

@azure river sorry about that

storm rapids
# leaden kernel two for one

I once made a post about that on the Meta help desk like two weeks ago or something like that but nobody replied, sadly. Those white boxes also appear on pages like the stewardess board and similar pages - but only in the vector skin.
