#Installing infoboxes
378 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
If you copy it from dev.mirahezze.org, you need to use dev as iterwiki
its an XML file from wikipedia itself
it doesnt exceed 2mb
i tried putting wikipedia into the box
and its loading
so i think ive got it
ah well that went to shit i think
how do i undo an import
i assume this isnt meant to be like this
Problem with Wikipedia is, that it has a lot of modules and templates it depends on. Those need to be included as well.
We rather point you to dev:Template:Infobox in stead, which is a simpler version.
Please read Infoboxes for more info.
(I personally never use inport/export so I can't help you undo that)
You can just copy the few files from our dev.miraheze.org and paste it over the files you imported. That doesn't give any problem.
It shows you which files are needed
The files you imported, can just be deleted
im going through the official import tutorial
it created a lot of them
like a lot
81
so thats fun i guess
Yeah. I have an idea of how many it can be.
I did them manually once for a Japanese guy, so I could make a list: https://jwmeeting.miraheze.org/wiki/Help:Installing_Infoboxes_from_Wikipedia#The_Styles_and_Modules
Took me a whole lot of hourse to figure out how many are unnecessary 😄
Because they are missing templates, css files or modules. Then Lua says: "Forget it, I can't find it - this is why - figure it out "
there seems to be quite a few styles.css files missing
do i just bring them over one by one?
until it seems to work fine
Yeah, that is often the only way.
piece of advice to the creators of miraheze, could they please have some of this stuff available to be preadded as an option on the creation page
Problem is, that the files Infobox depends on, often themselves are depending on other files
We are looking through those options indeed. But it is a lot of work to make it universally available to add as an extension. It will take some time still before it is implemented.
But that is why a few of us made the simpler versions on our dev:
there is a weird warning on one of the pages
Link?
i dont understand this
any of this tbh
wikimedia is just not my cup of tea
?
On the right you see Page information
then in the table it says
Page content model plain text (change)
and it works
refresh
magic
😉
you're doing fine. the start is always hard, but when you're through it, it will be a masterwork 😉
ive got so much lore to write
and a team of people waiting for me to set this upo
up*
so least its making progress
I'll be here for a few hours, so don't be afraid to ask
one sec
why is it like this
ive added infobox and documentation styles css
so idk why they are still an error
Let me check
<templatestyles src="Module:Infobox/styles.css"></templatestyles>
<templatestyles src="Module:Documentation/styles.css"></templatestyles>
ive fixed a few other css formats
Yeah. the documentation page is transcluded in the template page. https://solittletimewiki.miraheze.org/wiki/Template:Infobox/doc?action=submit
so what does that mean
at the bottom you'll see Templates used on this page You'll see what is missing
Transcluded = imported from another page.
i cant see this sorry
yup.
so copy them from wikipedia?
/n doesnt even exist
so thats a bit odd
tf
i reloaded it to see if it updates
but now there are more missing things
the ones i added are fixed
but there are new missing stuff
so i just gotta keep fixing issues as they arise
aight
ok ive fixed the new ones
and no more are appearing
Indeed.
I think "/n" was due to another one missing, which puts the code together with other code I think.
Good
For the styles by the way, you need to enable the extension.
https://solittletimewiki.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:ManageWiki/extensions
what do i activate
In the search box type: styles and enable the three
correct
done
should that fix things
seemingly not
<templatestyles src="Module:Infobox/styles.css"></templatestyles>
<templatestyles src="Module:Documentation/styles.css"></templatestyles>
that has caused a lot more issues
fucking hell
<templatestyles src="Module:Infobox/styles.css"></templatestyles>
<templatestyles src="Module:Documentation/styles.css"></templatestyles>
how do i make it sanitised css then
as that wasnt an option
ah its an option now
so thats from the plugins
The same way you did above
Page information
I check
😄
ty
yw
Yeah, you learn to see things quite easy along the way
@twin shard is there a way to mass purge the cache of pages
and quite a few issues here
Unfortunately no.
I check
It says: Missing Module:If empty
You also need to enable TemplateData
https://solittletimewiki.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:ManageWiki/extensions
ty
yw
@twin shard got an issue
Lua error in Module:Citation/CS1/Configuration at line 2058: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value).
this error is appearing everywhere
ok
ah ok thanks
well this isnt missing
this is tho
i purged the cache and the error is still there
the formating on this one is odd tbh
what content model should it be
Modules are Scribunto
I don't see an error in there
imma ensure there are no missing templates / modules
and if the error continues
i will need your help
I'll be here
it has decided to continue
it appears here
im just testing the infobox country template
and working through
the issue seems to originate from citations
It is indeed a tough one.
mw.ext.data.get ("CS1/Identifier limits.tab")
This seems to imply that it tries to get info from an external source (Which is commons.wikimedia.org.
which i wont be using anyway
CS1 is the complete Citations template and modules set indeed
ok. (Still looking. I hate not having answers 😄
mw.ext.data.get ("CS1/Identifier limits.tab")
refers to https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Data:CS1/Identifier_limits.tab
so what should i do?
Nothing yet, I am asking this one at MediaWiki self
Just ignore it for now
Please: Enable extension CommonsMetadata and JsonConfig
https://solittletimewiki.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:ManageWiki/extensions
↑
both 'CommonsMetadata' and 'JsonConfig' need to be enabled
Module:ISO 3166/data/National is missing as well
fixed
I check
Ah. Inside the infobox, you do:
| image_flag = Orion Flag.png
| size = 250px```
okay
I see the uploaded image is not viewable on the file page either
whyd that be
Even after refreshing
I'll ask <@&407534159909748746>
https://solittletimewiki.miraheze.org/wiki/File:Orion_Flag.png
okay..
nah its still being weird
Strange indeed
Well I pinged them to take a look, but have to wait untill there is one online
It is uploaded, as I can see it
https://static.miraheze.org/solittletimewikiwiki/9/90/Orion_Flag.png
hm
Looking
i do have that page
from what i see the file it's trying to load is a thumbnail which is unauthorized
it shouldn't be doing that
i need someone senior
when trying to upload it, i followed a tutorial but accidentally uploaded it to the wiki on which the tutorial was placed. I put it under copyright (as i thought it was my one and i didnt know what to put on that category)
and i think that is causing it to be blocked
ty
that shouldn't alter thumbnail images however
sre was already pinged so they can look into it
aight
You're one determined guy.
Full respect for the tempo your doing this in 🙂
i uploaded another version of the file with minor differences and still wont work
oh so all of the files uploaded don't load thumbnails
yeah also "unauthorized"
Try again.
They ran a Maintenance script on the wiki.
So it should work now
ty
I am off. In 4,5 hours I have to get out of bed again 😄
I'll check in later again to see how it goes
Please enable:
-
UrlGetParameters
-
Admin Links (For your sake, get handy tools)
Module:ParameterCount is missing
ah ok thanks
Yw
do you know how i would change the web browser symbol
wait found a tutorial
all good
Erm... You mean the revision dates?
That you can't do, as it automatically adds the server time.
Or do you mean something different?
Where on the page for example?
ah
that sucks
i can just write it but i gotta do the maths
which is annoying
You could try and use w:Help:MagicWords
@stark thunder Try using :
CURRENTDAY CURRENTMONTH .
where
Where you want. It would show the current date, but in 2724
ah ok
You can use CURRENTMONTHNAME in stead of CURRENTMONTH if you wish to use the month name
Still a few templates missing.
I'm not sure about the modules, So I can't help much in this.
Enable "wikibase" extension → Search "Wikibase" in ManageWiki
https://solittletimewiki.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:ManageWiki/extensions
i cant see where templates are missing
could u show me a list
as the normal list is all blue
https://solittletimewiki.miraheze.org/wiki/New_Hellas?action=edit
Template:SHORTDESC:Capital city in England (edit)
Template:SHORTDESC:Place (edit)
They are called somehow. But as said, I have no real knowledge of LUA to find the issues.
Ah...
Enable "GeoData"-extension please
| image_map =
wikidata=no
You don't have a connection to Wikidata like Wikipedia has
Well the Infobox Mapframe module doesn't give an error anymore.
That’s not the issue
The population and HDI and such sections are broken
I know, but these are called from the module. And I lack the knowledge of LUA.
But do Enable the "GeoData" extension
Kk
@twin shard
notes arent working
not properly at least
i just want it to say [1]
not this full lower-alpha thing
Any great or bad news till now?
You need to install those files as well, just search enwp for "lower-alpha 1"
So there is a template for that?
Not a template, more of several library files
Wdym
Just search them on English Wikipedia, you'll see. I'm afk atm.
@stark thunder if you copied from Wikipedia?
Wdym
After this just w:mediawiki:Cite link label group-lower-decimal copy the whole thing then paste this on the page that you have crated
This page doesn’t exist
If you can give me the permission to edit some template
I will do it
In your wiki
1 2 3
Just 123 ok then need to do some change in some template
Any changes that I need to make, just tell me what to do and I can do it
Yes
Just paste this
|{{#tag:ref|{{{1|{{{reference|{{{content|{}}}}}}}}}}|name={}}}
|{{#tag:ref|{{{1|{{{reference|{{{content|{}}}}}}}}}}}}
}}</includeonly><noinclude>
documentation
</noinclude>```
in Template:Efn
Hope this will work@stark thunder
Aight
Will try
Also {{reflist|{{{1|{}}}}|refs={{{refs|{}}}}}}<noinclude> documentation</noinclude> this in the template:notelist
@stark thunder
Aight
