hey! so my brand new wiki is intended for mostly-only-me to edit—it's intended to serve as a homepage for roleplay info for myself and a small group of friends.

I'd like to set up my wiki such that only myself (the bureaucrat) and registered users that I personally approve in the future (my friends) are able to edit the wiki, with everyone else (including anons) having permission to view only.

I don't want to make the wiki private since I'd like for potential new members to be able to read the info, I just want to set my wiki up so that only a select group of people I choose that sign up in the future are able to make edits to it.

the thing is, wiki editing permissions are esoteric and scary and i do not have a clue how to parse them. can someone help me with how to achieve these settings?

Thanks for asking! A lot bureaucrats go in blindly and end up exploding their settings and then needing a Steward to rescue them

What I'd suggest is revoking the edit right from the (everyone) and Users group. Then assign it to the Autopatrolled users group and promote anyone you trust to autopatrolled

I believe sysop has edit hard coded into it

I may be wrong but let me check, I thought it was hardcoded into ManageWiki
