#I'm trying to create my own character models, but some of them don't make sense.

Are you adding additional frames to existing animations?
Maybe for some of them
Then I suspect it has to do with the Sprites.xml. I'm not well versed in this so I can't help you beyond pointing you in the right direction, but check out the <Metadata> part of the player sprites definition
I'll see to it, but I'm very bad at code and modding so I doubt I can find it out
What if I don't add extra frames?
Then it should just work
I think @solemn meadow is the expert on the hair part of the Sprites.xml and might be able to help
Alright, thanks for the help
You know about the hair definition part of the Sprites.xml right? Or am I misremembering?
Oh hellp! I need help with changing the hair on Madeline sprites
I know a bit.
What's up?
More importantly I know who to point you towards if I don't know lol
So very simply I am trying to change the Madeline sprites to create my own character. Some files in the Graphics Dump are hairless. How do I add my own hair to these files?
I just tested it out in game and the character I created shows up normally, only you can see Madelines old hair behind it
Oh!
Hair is code generated
If you want your characters hair to look exactly like madelines, you can make your sprites without hair and the game will render it as usual if you want. If you're just changing the color it might honestly be easiest to just link something like hyperline as a dependency, as changing the color requires some code.
If you want to remove her hair entirely and draw your own, you can do that and it's pretty easy, if a bit tedious. But you won't have any indication on how many dashes you have without it
And there's no way to add that?
There's ways to change the hair location and generation, but I don't know how to do it myself haha
You might get a better answer from asking coders. I just know how to make the funny art
Do you knwo who I can ask?
If you want to do this option and also indicate dash count, I think Skin Helper's colorgrade functionality might be what you want
Oh? That sounds promising
I thought I'd heard that, I could be wrong
If they did I guess I should learn how it works
I wanna impliment hair generation to completely normal Madeline but idk how
For now I'll just change the bodies then, and change the hair at a later date I guess

Best of luck! If its just the art side I'd be happy to help or answer any questions you have later down the line :>
Thanks alot for the help!
Welcome to skinmodding!
I'm not sure. I think it'll close itself after a time
I can close it, but I'm just checking to try and confirm that skin mod helper does have the thing first
Yep found it

@soft mural When you're ready to try the color grade thing, this document is what you want ^
For now I'll close this thread in a second
Oh and thanks for tagging me I'm happy to help!
