#General Lag on MacOS Tahoe

I have one of the newer M3 Apple Silicon Macs. I started noticing generally Celeste, even with low amounts of mods is strangely much laggier than on Windows. I know -based on YouTube Hard List players- that a surprising amount of the hard list video uploaders are clearly also using macOS, How are they able to deal with the lag?

I thought it might have something to do with using an Intel Mac, but haven't been able to confirm it. Is there anything I can do to lower lag (other than using Game Mode, quitting all other processes, and lowering content mods)? Recently, I began using the lag pauser mod with speedrun mod's faster death animation. I'm lagging literally everytime I die. It's not great. 🙁

Edit. Changing speedrun mod’s options does not seem to do anything. The game is way too laggy for some reason.

Hello! There’s a lot of sources lag can stem from. It could be from the x86_64-to-ARM translation layer Rosetta, or simply not having enough RAM on the system. Opening a resource monitor while you play the game could help in diagnosing the source, but lag is a difficult issue to handle in general.

Yes, Celeste hasn't been updated in quite a while, and it's unlikely to be updated soon. Good luck with your troubleshooting!

Some testing Data: Using the M3 Air, specifically, the non-binned one, with 16 GB of Unified Memory, even with mods does not signficantly tax anything. Memory pressure is very low, and it doesn't tax the CPU or GPU very much at all. Anything else? Other than just rewriting the whole game to be native on Apple Silicon, or maybe waiting until Valve finally brings Steam to Apple Silicon natively.
