Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Graphics.NoSuitableGraphicsDeviceException

should mention this is on linux
hmm, are you using integrated or dedicated graphics?
both
and to be clear it wasn't happening before installing everest right?
nope
very strange. i have never seen this before
i installed another vanilla instance on a different computer before this error occured
do you have celeste through steam? if so is it flatpak or snap (not recommended) or another method?
that instance still functions
steam
i do not know how it is downloaded i just downloaded it with steam
no i mean how was steam installed?
ok interesting
when you reinstall vanilla do you see celeste.bin.x86_64
could this possibly be a proton thing (i know very little about linux)
yeah thats what im trying to check rn
ill see
oh true, good point
no, celeste runs native afaik
what about this?
so it is native
no wait.
thats orig
after reinstalling celeste do you see celeste.bin.x86_64 in the celeste folder directly
do not install everest yet
i find it weird there's a celeste.exe.config
dllmaps are removed with .net core
its possible you may have had windows install under proton
but this is before reinstalling, right?
yes
i think this is a vanilla install overlaid on top of everest? @vital bane when you reinstalled did that remove the celeste dir entirely or was there still stuff there?
oh maybe
lets nuke the celeste folder and reinstall from scratch
when in doubt rm -rf and reinstall :p
remember to rm -fr / to remove the french from your linux system
we do not want another french revolution
okay what next
cc @Maddie :p
win i think
aaaand it still crashes
what
"pacman, so flatpak" ⁉️
do you have your graphics drivers properly setup?
yeah but nvidia drivers dont come ootb
are you on open? thats the only one available for the new cards right
that sounds about right
yea
reboot done
yep
still crashes
er.
what
reinstall once again
atleast i have good internet
okay it boots agtain
curious as to whether the Celeste executable was missing somehow or if the . path seg was messing it up. both seem impossible to me
boots w/ everest
solution: poke it with a stick several times
so ig when in doubt, reboot
breaking: various experts scratching their heads on game, yet simple reboot solved everything
-# and reinstall
many such cases
just bashj it over the head with arock until it works
what happens in a pc behind the scenes
can confirm i go and skewer bugs in my code
