#Code Signiging Evererest Binary on MacOS

Hey, hopefully this is the right channel to message about this. Recently (see https://brew.sh/2025/11/12/homebrew-5.0.0/ and https://github.com/Homebrew/brew/pull/20388), HomeBrew (a package manager for macOS) announced that they would be deprecating all packages that don't pass the GateKeeper check. Essentially this would mean it wouldn't be able to be installed from that source (after 2026-09-01) if not signed with a certificate. I wanted to see if you would possibly be open to signing new releases of Olympus for macOS? Happy to help out however I can. Don't got much experience with azure CI but do have some experience with code signing

i don't know anything about application signing but wouldn't that imply a cost

yes this is the right channel :3
i'm not sure who manages the cask though

uhh, i know for iOS it does require the developer program which is 99 usd for ios but unsure about macos

signed with just... any cert?

last kite
#

oh yeah, apparently does require apple developer program which means yeah, money

rotund jolt
#

also you mean the olympus binary, not everest

last kite
#

oops, so sorry

#

yeah

last kite
#

f apple

rotund jolt
#

is this a one time purchase or a monthly one

#

if its monthly then i'm sure everyone will say no

last kite
#

yearly

rotund jolt
#

yeah no

last kite
#

yeah, fair

rotund jolt
#

thats my opinion at least

#

im pretty sure others will share this pov, but the only way to be certain is to ask them directly

#

besides i don't think we deal with the homebrew package manager

last kite
#

yeah, super fair. I stopped paying for mine because $100 is rediculous for small devs, lol

tl;dr 8.50 a month in order to avoid having to go through hoops to run the app on macOS

rotund jolt
#

the regular app should still work fine no?

light blade
#

I wouldn't want to pay that either ohnoshiro

ok i suspect this is not worth the cost then

rotund jolt
#

this just looks like it's a problem with homebrew and some third party redistribution of olympus in homebrew

last kite
#

homebrew just is stupid and is no longer allowing unsigned apps

light blade
rotund jolt
#

we don't even manage the homebrew

#

it's some third party redistribution i believe

light blade
#

I wasn't even aware it was on Homebrew tbh

rotund jolt
#

every single case on macos ive seen was people having olympus installed by following the instructions on the website

#

so this is basically a non issue

last kite

sounds good. wanted to see but figured it would be a no. not worth it. no harm in asking
