#Problems installing Everest

I installed Olympus via the GitHub page and followed all the steps before it came to installing Everest however when I tried to download it, it said "miniloader died a horrific death", and following it Olympus would immediately crash. So I went through all the problem solving steps on the GitHub page, reinstalled Olympus and tried deleting the Orig file, however everything didn't work. But I found some interesting text on the log-sharp page, and assumed it might help.

where did you get the game from?

tame python
#

I have it downloaded on steam, and I have opened the game, and it was closed whiling trying to install Everest

fair drum
#

maybe try verifying game files then?

I recently did, all files were verified

fair drum
#

it might be an antivirus related issue? not sure

#

that's the only thing i can find doing a discord search on that error

tame python
#

The only antivirus I have is the one already on my windows computer I don’t have anything like Norton or otherwise

fair drum
#

only other thing i found that might help is fully uninstalling and reinstalling the game

#

probably back up the Saves folder first just in case

tame python
#

Luckily I play on switch and downloaded Celeste on steam just to play mods, so saves aren’t an issue, I’ll try it and report back

fair drum
#

actually have you launched the game normally on steam at least once?

tame python
#

Yes, I noticed that when troubleshooting, unfortunately it didn’t solve the issue baddybruh

Reinstalling Celeste now

#

Bruh, here's the new log-sharp txt if it might help, I gonna try restarting my computer, that's the only thing I can think of.

#

good news, Olympus is no longer crashing so thats nice I guess

#

didn't work, and now Olympus is crashing again MADeline

#

Hey @fair drum sorry for the ping, but could you please mark this discussion with 💬, so I could possibly get help in the future?

fair drum
#

i'm just gonna ping <@&673391557939953684> cus i have no idea myself catting

tame python
#

sounds good, thanks for the help!

#

where did you get your celeste from, and why is it on your desktop

tame python
#

I downloaded it from steam, and then moved it to a separate folder to add it to Olympus

raw dagger
#

you don't do that

tame python
#

wdym?

raw dagger
#

do not move steam games outside the folder they're downloaded to

tame python
#

it was a dupe, not the original file, could that be the problem?

raw dagger
#

yes

loud sandal
#

In fact it looks like you just copied Celeste.exe, without copying any of the other files the game needs

#

But even if you copied those other files, Steam builds will always launch the Steam install, even if you create a copy of the files

#

In case you are worried about conflicts with vanilla: Everest backs up all vanilla files, and also allows you to restart into a purely vanilla install at any time

raw dagger
#

wouldn't it still crash when running

loud sandal
#

If you mean vanilla

tame python
#

No it was a lot dumber than that, I could find the file through Olympus so I just made a copy arbP

#

let me try to fix it and report back

loud sandal
#

You can just wipe your copy + any related Everest files, then try to install to your actual Steam install

#

(should be in a folder called steamapps/common/Celeste somewhere on your PC)

raw dagger
#

right click celeste, properties, then local files and open folder

#

anyway yeah don't copy the game executable without the libraries it depends on because it will Not work

tame python
#

It worked! Thanks so much! Turns out celeste was in my D drive, and I was to lazy to try to find it OMGshiro

raw dagger
#

how did you copy the celeste exe then catplush

tame python
#

Yeah I just strait up copied the application like an idiot

raw dagger
#

no like
how did you copy the celeste exe if you didn't know where it was

tame python
#

To be honest I think I found the actual path, couldn't find through olympus, and then just decided to copy it, instead of just looking at the file path, wow im stupid

raw dagger
#

catplanet that's definitely a way
