Upon first launch of Lönn i receive this screen tell me to select Celeste.exe or Celeste.app accompanied by a file selection pop-up. Celeste.exe however does not appear in my files and every time i select Celeste.app it simply closes the old file selection pop-up and opens a new one. Does anybody know a fix to this issue? <@&673391557939953684>

This is on mac by the way.
i dont know how mac works, are you sure you are selecting the app and not a shortcut to it?
What i did in the file selection pop-up is i searched up "Celeste.app" and clicked on it.
Here is an image for context.
Where is that located on your computer?
In my celeste folder in "ApplicationSupport".
"ApplicationSupport" folder is located in my user's Library.
I have found a fix for the issue. Instead of clicking on celeste.app you need to manually drag celeste.app into the lönn window.
and you are dragging the same thing in as you were trying to select? 🤔
yup
interesting
huh, thanks for the info
it's very weird and scuffed but mac will be mac i guess
would you be up for testing this for us in the coming days
whenever I have time I can send you a version that would give us some information regarding this, and maybe we can finally fix it
Yes i would be willing to do any tests regarding this for y'all.
those two actions are supposed to be the same, but they aren't
so if we find out what the difference is, we can solve the biggest macos bug we currently know of
thank you very much
I'll come back to you tomorrow or so
Ok!
we cannot test macos builds ourselves because noone has a mac
does mac n cheese count
Mac and cheese is very tasty.
I lied I make it now
go to Library/Application Support/Lönn and rename that directory to something else. That will make lönn forget it existed and try to ask you for the celeste installation again
open this version of Lönn, try clicking on celeste.app when it asks you, then send me Library/Application Support/Lönn/run.log
then try dragging in celeste.app instead which you said worked, and send me the log again
even after trying to select Celeste.app?
there should be a file called "run"
one sec
in Library/Application Support/Lönn
assuming you used the lönn app I gave you and not the one you have installed
yes
[WARNING] Celeste path: /Users/PrinceMinewalker/Applications/Celeste.app/Contents/Resources
is what i get
oh wait
one sec

this is from multiple attemps tho i think
but now you are just in a normal functioning lönn window right
see the first few lines are different from the last ones, the first few are from when you were selecting celeste.app rather than dragging it in
this is valuable, thanks
you can delete this custom lönn version again and use the normal one without the printout
ok
@snow chasm looks like if you search for it in finder, you find "celeste" in steamapps/common rather than the actual location, I guess?
@proven lark could you navigate to that mentioned directory Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Celeste and tell me what it looks like
or send a screenshot
ye
the parent directory should contain every game you have installed on steam
can you navigate into that Celeste app there
there should be an option when you right click it
this is what i get when i right click on it
show package contents

@snow chasm looks like lönn is not detecting steam correctly on macos. Here, Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Celeste clearly exists, but lönn isn't autodetecting it and asking for the path anyway. This seems to be because the app isn't actually in that folder, but one folder deeper, i.e. /Users/PrinceMinewalker/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Celeste/Celeste.app
TL;DR fix the steam search path on macos specifically to go one folder deeper, then cleanupPath will also correctly append the Contents/Resources as it should
@proven lark easy fix, thanks for testing
just to make sure, what is inside that MacOS folder
and what is inside the Resources folder
one second i have to move stuff around to fit it in a screenshot
this is in the resources folder
this is in the MacOS folder
@proven lark could you try the previous thing (delete or rename Library/Application Support/Lönn, then launch this special version of lönn) and see what happens
ok will do
It seems to be working!
did it automatically detect the install
even after you removed the Lönn folder
or did you have to select Celeste.app
every time i have tried to open that version for the first time i got sent to the screen in the screenshot
i did not have to select celeste.app
it auto sent me to the editing screen
because steam installs of celeste are meant to be automatically detected
thanks
you can remove that test version again, next version will have the fix
yay!
