#incompatible OpenGL version

olympus is using your integrated graphics card
So I have to get a new cpu for it to work?
no
you can change it from windows settings
though i forgot where exactly
something about changing its power profile?
oh i found it
from settings, system > display > display settings (bottommost option) > classic application, then browse and find olympus (%AppData%\Olympus\main.exe) and set it to high performance
@ember moss
Thanks I'll try it when home, appreciate the help
i remember encountering a similar issue, it was because i didn't have hardware acceleration enabled on my vm
then someone else had it and suggesting this worked for them
Well let's hope it works for me
likely will
Is it alright if I ping you to update on if it works or not
I'll likely not home for quite a bit
sure
usually selecting which gpu to use is more of a laptop thing, on a pc it should just use whichever one the monitor is plugged into
Works
@grim panther
windows is funny and wants to micromanage the gpu if you have two
which can lead to this
but also, gg
@grim panther something messed up happened it worked for a bit, at least everest did but I noticed I didn't get an olympus shortcut so I tried getting olympus again and I think it deleted itself or something, then why I try to download olympus again the same error accord eventhough I put it on high performance
I have both the github and non github olympus downloaded so maybe that's messing with it?
why are neither working anymore
Been removing and re adding the appdata and putting on high performance I still get the sane message no matter what i try

idk what to do
uhhhh uninstall olympus?
then install it again, and try removing and readding the performance setting
Nada whenever I try to run it with appdata att high performance it just says the same thing
Been deleting and reading for a while now
and whenever i open everest i get this error
can you check something for me real quick
open the game files
go to the orig folder and go to the Saves folder
or no actually
just the orig folder
screenshot what you see
celeste game files?
yes
There is a lot so I'll send a few screenshots
ok so it is a symlink
@modest kiln we might need to update the everest installer cus it tries to copy the file from itself to itself
Saves\0-modsave-AchievementHelper.celeste -> orig\Saves\0-modsave-AchievementHelper.celeste
but orig\Saves is a symlink to Saves

Oh btw, the solution here is to simply install drivers for your GPU
Since a current-gen GPU definitely supports a more modern OpenGL version than one which came out 27 years ago
This is the one you want
what about the igpu
cus it worked for a second
then it didn't
Windows usually is smart enough to pick out the correct GPU / graphics device when needed
But even then, igpus also support OpenGL versions more recent than those which came out 27 years ago
The reason it fails here is because it doesn't pick up any GPU whatsoever
That one OpenGL thing it lists is one which is always provided by Windows
So yeah, try installing the driver and rebooting
i suppose
how does this even work when the different gpus have separate outputs on a desktop pc
Multi-monitor setups with different GPUs are an entirely different clusterfuck
I don't know the exact mechanisms at play here of the top of my head, but it involves cross-GPU framebuffer copies through the compositor afaik

I don't have to worry about that because I don't have an iGPU lol

once i run it everything should work?
i'll update you once it's done
oh no, don't update me
i want to stay the same version
/s
Note that this makes Olympus work, it doesn't fix the old installer
btw what am i downloading what is a driver?
yes
so i should delete the files i have already downloaded?
oh wait, you're not asking whether it is a driver

so like, your computer has a bunch of hardware installed
like the cpu, graphics card, sound card, etc
that's all well and good
but
please elborate on what you mean i don't want to break it
its one thing having the hardware, its another one being able to talk with it
that is the job of a driver - its job is to talk with (drive) the hardware
in your case, the graphics card
its like a bridge between your operating system and the hardware
should i get the express or custom version?
eh express

phew
Mods even work like they should
I am now eevee
Thankss I appreciate it a ton
Also what more can you do with a driver if you don't mind telling me
drivers allow for fun stuff like being able to use your computer properly
