#I can't use controller when opening celeste with everest
35 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
what if you press B?
Pressing B does nothing
To continue, I have to press C on my keyboard, and once I'm in the main menu, pressing anything on the controller doesn't do anything
I got a new keyboard today, could this be a problem?
do you have steam controller support on? if so, you might want to try turning it off
sorry, but how do i turn this off?
steam (upper left) > settings > controller
thanks a lot
(for context, newer everest versions will always use FNA rather than XNA, which has much better controller support by itself, at the cost of not playing well with steam's controller support)
ok, i'm giving it a try thanks for helping
i'm not sure if i've done this correctly as it's still not working. am i in the right place?
i'm using an xbox elite series 2 controller btw
yeah that should be correct
it still doesn't work with controller when i open my game :/
when i open the game without everest, controller works
@dry elk please try downloading this file and putting it in the same directory as log.txt, etc. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gabomdq/SDL_GameControllerDB/master/gamecontrollerdb.txt
(quit Celeste first)
Thanks a lot, I’ll do this when I’m back home :)
just checking, are you talking about the main celeste directory which you get when choosing "browse local files" on steam?
i just did this and THANK YOU SO MUCH my controller finally works with everest :)
woooo nice
I am having a similar issue. Regular Celeste seems to work just fine, but Everest is not working with my controller. This text file is a fix? Thx
Looks like I have the text file already but I still have the issue
this is an updated version of the file. although you should first try disabling steam input
Ok, yeah that worked a treat. Thanks @umbral rover
just wanted to chime in something weird, my elite series 2 wasnt being picked up by everest (though it was working with default celeste) and i tried replacing the text file and i checked if steam input was off which it already was, turns out turning steam input ON actually fixed it which i found to be odd. Just putting that out there since this is the first thread that showed up while i was trying to fix it
i just reinstalled steam and was having this problem again, and this fix worked
i think this might only be affecting the elite series 2 as i havent seen many people complain about this
