The room is tall but Madeline just bonks her head on the non existent ceiling. Do I need a camera trigger or something?

check if the room is tall enough in the debug map (f6 by default)

disable the camera lock option on the badeline orb

also yeah ch9 final boosts have very specific requirements (see the tooltips)
