#Game sometimes stops drawing frames upon dying

This happens to me and another person (both are on different Linux distributions)
When dying in any map, in extremely rare cases the screen will go black after the screen-wipe effect and the game will be unable to exit, but it still plays sound effects and music in the background until the process is killed.
The last time it happened, I fell into a pit in a Vanilla Contest 2023 map, and the other person ran into a spinner in 7C. This happens on all builds of Everest (including core), and happens in the same frequency regardless of how many mods are enabled (so it's guaranteed not an out of memory error). I'm thinking this is an issue with Max's Helping Hand or CelesteTAS, but there have been times where the game died without either of those enabled.

neonberries is never the cause of the freeze, and the mod worked perfectly fine along with vanilla contest 2023 (as far as I played)

I played vanilla a lot on linux about 2 years ago and never saw something like this happen once

update: it probably does happen more often with a bunch of mods loaded
I have fast texture loading disabled, and I completed a strawberry jam map in celestenet which caused it to happen
some other things that cause it are entering a lobby after enabling celestenet, or enabling celestenet and hyperline while in the lobby, and then entering a map

looks like the same helping hand issue, and I'm not sure if I can do anything about it

this time hyperline didn't crash everything, but I opened the debug map and tried to close it this time, which froze the game

Tbf I didn't play a lot (=at all) recently, so a mod-caused issue is the most likely I would say

nothing happened this session
looks like I can't replicate this, and the opengl beta doesn't seem to affect anything
for some reason, the freezing has been happening extremely often for me, but not for the other person with a nearly identical setup to mine

we both run it through olympus but they're using the aur package and I'm using the tarball

not sure if this is related, but I got my first "oops" crash when opening celestenet for the first time today which had never happened before
this is absolutely caused by a mod but I'm not entirely sure how or why

I'm on amd64 gentoo and using gentoo-kernel-bin so it's not some funky customization garbage

every day, I only get more questions
when I have strawberry jam enabled, the game lag spikes whenever I die, and the lag spikes get longer the more I play until it freezes, even on vanilla maps (I thought it was the opengl beta causing this, but it wasn't)
and starting today, the game's window can't be captured with OBS and the audio is panned really far into my left ear
I reinstalled the game + everest core and the audio issue got fixed, but nothing else

the vanilla game is perfectly fine, and there's something about everest core that isn't the installation that's causing a problem
is there any way to debug this

I only play in exclusive fullscreen because otherwise the game gets a very slight amount of input lag
is fullscreen known to be jank on everest core?

opened the game again and played a different strawberry jam map
the game started at 2.6g, I got the silver for forest path and if my "driveway" almost did you in, and it's at 2.7g now
same cpu usage as always
