#How do I go about making custom stylegrounds for Lönn?

My little bro thinks it would be really cool to make his own Celeste mod complete with handmade tilesets and stylegrounds, and keeps asking for my help even though I'm not much more experienced than he is. I've managed to get his tilesets to show up in-game and in the editor, but I can't find anything on making your own stylegrounds. I'm already terrible at assembling stylegrounds with pre-made backdrops and everything so I have no idea how to do this.

  1. What size do his images need to be in order for them to look good in game?
  2. What folder do I put them in?
  3. How do I do the .xml for it (I'm assuming I have to if it's necessary for tilesets) and where does that file go?

Explain everything in detailed steps, I only have a bit of experience making maps, and I've never made any art assets before.

  1. stylegrounds can look good with basically any size, however for the very background layer you want to go for something that is 320x180 or bigger - as that is the size that will cover the screen

  2. https://github.com/EverestAPI/Resources/wiki/Adding-Stylegrounds#how-to-add-custom-stylegrounds - this page also has a lot of other helpful information about adding stylegrounds (explains using ahorn but most of it is the exact same in loenn)

  3. no xml gladstare however to make stylegrounds look good you will likely need to use multiple layers, and add some effects on top (e.g. mist, purplesunset) or some visual variants/entities e.g. light sources or extended variants bloom/darkness settings

Thank you! He was having trouble finding any sort of tutorial on it, that GitHub page should help!

the everest wiki has a ton of other useful pages as well (probably would've been handy for working out tilesets laugheline )
