#Memory allocation error [Fedora Linux 38] trying to open Olympus to install Everest

Mods suddenly stopped working at some point, so I reinstalled the game and olympus. Get this error a few seconds after or immediately upon loading Olympus. Don't even get a chance to click install Everest before it crashes. I definitely have enough memory, there's no way it's using 32gb in the Olympus menu unless there's some sort of memory leak. Works fine on my laptop running SJ and celestenet, but for some reason it just doesn't here. Any help fixing this would be appreciated.

that and not enough memory

#

50% chance which one I get

#

Does it happen instantly, or do you need to browse for a while before it happens?

shrewd timber
#

sort of random, idk

#

when I first installed it it was pretty much instant

#

managed to get to the point of typing in a mod name before it crashed this time

#

so rn I have to browse for at least a few seconds before it crashes

#

just crashed, like olympus just disappeared, with no error message

#

that's new

#

is there a folder with more detailed error logs that I could use to find out what happened there?

dreamy vigil
#

I think they're in ~/.config/Olympus

shrewd timber
#

that's the latest error log I could get

#

here's a log for the other "not running" error, which I just encountered again

#

logs don't seem to give any useful information at all

#

I mean I can confirm that the Everest install from earlier did work, launching celeste through steam loads everest. That's a start I guess.

#

imma try mons and see if that works

shrewd timber
#

mons worked!

#

I guess Olympus gui is just broken

placid wigeon
#

you could try to report there and see if it gets fixed

Had the same issue, fedora user too! Just an update that it looks like a PR was sent that will fix the issue. Gonna use mons for now too

placid wigeon
#

maybe try that for the time beeing

#

the pr is not going to fix it fully, only if you have love installed systemwide

#

baddyhug im all g, just used mons and got strawberry jam installed, but yeah hope others will find this thread useful

placid wigeon
#

alright, a fix is on their way soon (ish) so be tuned for that!

#

btw shoutout to the based one who made mons
