It appears a lot in chapter 2

I think it's behavior is dependent on what the dreaming state is, but at least sometimes it's little things that float in the air and react slightly to the player

there's a few types of debris in celeste

#

the Debris class is used e.g. by breaking dash blocks. CrystalDebris is used by shattering spinners. FloatingDebris is the aforementioned stuff from 2A. ForegroundDebris is used in farewell I think. then a bunch of entities have their own private nested debris classes, including TempleMirrorPortal.Debris, BounceBlock.BreakDebris, BounceBlock.RespawnDebris, MoveBlock.Debris, and BlackholeBG.SpiralDebris
