nah it's reasonable to expect the version you just downloaded to be the newest one

(it's not, for antivirus reasons)

yeah to elaborate slightly more - olympus tends to look suspicious to antiviruses because it can patch .exe files and stuff like that, so the devs had to submit manual review requests to each individual antivirus to get them to take a closer look (which almost universally resulted in them saying "yeah it's fine")

this would be fine if it only had to happen once, but every single time the main download updated, the AVs would freak out over the new version and they'd have to do it all again

so eventually it was just decided that it didn't matter enough since it has an auto-updater anyway
