The ambush is great- especially if they decide to add some kind of mechanic involving the arms to allo later on

A problem we have with idle animations is they keep looping in the background when they're not being displayed, so when you finish roaring you don't go back to the start of the idle animation but pop to wherever it's played to in the time since it was last active. Causes a lot of synchronization issues that we've had to cover over with long blend times.
Allo has it really noticeable because it goes from a neutral position to looking up really high then bending down really low over the course of its idle. These extremes make for some fairly awkward moves when going in and out of emotes or interaction animations. At the moment we're trying to find a way to fix this oversight in Unreal Engine's design, the only reason we'd rework the current idle I think is if we don't find a workaround.

Point is all mid tier animals are made to combat each other fairly but in different ways. To tackle a Cerato is to do the easiest thing in the book, just run away, hes slow as hell so instead of fighting him you force it to hunt slower animals like diablo that can beat it because they themselves are tanky or it starves to death because it couldn't catch you.
Balance is on survivability, not combat effectiveness.
