Right click The Isle in your Steam library > left click properties > local files > browse local files > TheIsle > delete the "Saved" folder. I'd suggest doing that as your installation may be on a different drive than the one Souretsu has.

I have encountered a user who has a slow dinosaur. They said it is slower than everyone else no matter what dino they are, no matter what server they play on. Their name was @potent bronze . Not sure if it is a bug or just something to do with their game. They said their ping was 47 on Dev 3 where we are playing together @lilac thistle

I got footage of it on my stream and they are walking bait even when they sprint. They said they've been killed many times because they are always the slowest

Woah thank you for posting this! and no I haven't reinstalled it, and it's been going on basically since I've played the game (since last summer.) I thought it was just lag or something, not sure what could be causing it. I never really thought to ask because I thought it was just some minor thing, but I'm always the first to die

Well I don't think there'd be anything nefarious slowing down a particular player.. If anything you're either lagging network wise or FPS wise I'd say.

I've noticed some minor differences is dino speeds before. Like I know in the galli flocks I noticed I was faster than ghost by a hair. But that is super significant

As I mentioned.. It's most likely not an actual bug, as I don't think there will be a movement related to issue that will solely target a specific player as that's not really how things work. If anything it's most likely network lag if you're not experiencing any form of FPS drop. @potent bronze

Same issue that yesterday.. i changed muy cpu as you said. i changed the cpu to an i5 4460, and the game keeps getting bad it's the only game with that problem :S

Hi, my friend has a problem regarding the new map it seems. Every time he tries to join a server with the new map, thenyaw, it will just say 'lost connection' or 'timed out'. It also take ages to load, he says it just goes on for about 20 mins. He has tried multiple servers, same problem. But if he joins a server with the test level map it works then. Be helpful if anyone knows how to fix because he wants to play on the new map and test new features etc... Thanks!

That is likely being caused by a mod. Unsub from all your mods and delete your Saved folder as mentioned earlier in the channel (would give you the file path but I'm on my phone). That will usually fix it

@warm ether Only ping punchpacket for support stuff, and I believe restarting your machine or steam can fix that issue, or ending TheIsle process in windows if it got hung up

Ensure the boxes are empty, and in regards to your firewall I'd suggest never turning that off. It's never worth it to put your system at risk even temporarily, you mention you made an exception/exclusion, what in particular did you exclude? The actual folder or the desktop shortcut?

Generally the fatal errors are often a side effect of having mods installed, which is just fixed by unsubbing from them and deleting the saved folder.

I moved our server to dev branch and we now have the problem that dead bodies are despawning at a real fast rate, no matter which settings I changed.

I tried several settings like x=43200 (should be 12h), x=0 (Somebody told me "0" is default and the bodies should stay for ever unless they don't get eaten) and x=10800 (should be 3h).

Regardless which settings... it seemed that the bodies kept despawning at the same (high) rate.

Does anybody have clue which option i still not consider?

In the next update, ServerDeadBodyTime of 0 means decay the body based on its food value every minute, otherwise remove the body in X seconds to help with server bandwidth

Infact I'm looking at servers through steam and I can't find anything, even the servers from friends are playing on now, say non-responding. Cannot join the server through friend's list either :/

Then reboot your pc and test the server browser in steam again

Sometimes PCs can have two graphics cards installed (like an Intel integrated graphics for example, and an Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti for example). Do you have the graphics card that is able to run The Isle set as your primary?

To add on, sometimes the PC will have the integrated set as default and won’t use the better GPU unless you set it as default.

Have a bit of a problem, mainly considering connection issues. When I connect to any server on the dev-branch with Thenyaw as the map, I get stuck at the loading screen before it takes me back to the menu, saying I have timed out. When turning all my graphics down to low I am able to reach a black screen (which usually means for me that I've connected and the map is just loading), and it stays that way for about a minute or two before going back to the menu.

My problem is that this has only just happened after the latest update or two, as I was able to play earlier last week without any trouble. I didn't have to adjust any graphics or anything. I could play fine on "Epic" with an uncommon lag spike here and there, though I did have to wait a bit at the loading screen. Not sure if there's a solution to it (yet?) but I was told it was probably best to report it.

I should add that it does tell me that my device doesn't reach minimal requirements, but I haven't had any issues with playing on the "Epic" graphics due to having very little lag and high fps; as well as being able to play on the Thenyaw map when I host it myself (but I still have the connection issues when joining an empty server with the same map).

What other solutions have you tried? The main reason I suspect it to be an issue resolvable by something on your end is that I've not really seen any other cases of this, other fatal errors are often solved by reinstallations and removing mods.

If you see hypos, press tab and look for red names. Red names are devs. If there are hypos on, and there are devs on? The devs are playing the hypos

This issue has happened to me before, and it happens every once in a while. But as soon as I log into a server, my dinosaur appears to be continuously teleporting on & off the map. It would show me that my Dinosaur is on the map for the first second, and then my Dinosaur would drop through the map, and then back on top of the map, and then dropping again. I’m not too sure if it’s an issue to bring up but what could be the problem, if there is any & how would it be fixed? (Normally I relogged and the problem goes away)

I have this issue in the dev branch where I can't join any server. no matter the map or host I will enter the loading screen and it just never loads. id really like to be able to continue playing the game when dev branch is pushed to the public, because i can still play public branch with no issues at all. here are my specs.

Hoping this is the right place to put this but ever since the update the other day my FPS on the Dev servers have been so bad it's unplayable. Off the dev servers I can play at epic with over 70 FPS and everything's fine but on the dev servers I'd say the FPS is below 10 standing still. Is the system requirements truly that much more or is something potentially going on? I'm not exactly running on a potato so I'm a bit concerned.

@smoky wasp If I'm not mistaken the GPU is the AMD equivalent of Intel Integrated Graphics.. Which if that's the case it's most likely an issue with your computer failing to load up the map before the server assumes you've timed out.

Sorry, I stepped away from my PC. I am, and I think that's the issue because I started to label potential issues. One of them is I have my main Isle on Dev, and my sub. application on the normal branch. I can play on official servers but not any of the modded servers I want to play on.

Is there a way to fix that without having to reinstall the normal branch every time i want to alternate?

@scenic spade Unsubscribe from all your mods and delete your Saved folder. That should fix the fatal error. And you have to reinstall the normal branch due to the way Steam patching works, as well as the fact that the normal branch contains things that we've deleted in the new update.

Examples being Region 2, a lot of the assets used on Region 2, etc.

I can't quite read what the error says

But the typical fix for these fatal errors is to unsub from all of your mods and delete your Saved folder. As long as you're playing on the compatible version of the game for the mod, you should in theory be able to re-sub to them afterwards

gosh, ok, so seeing as i both got the game and joined the server just today, idk where to? ask about this? but as soon as i want to start sprinting i can't get my dino to stop sprinting with every forward movement. shift just apparently ceases to exist and work as intended
I don't know if it's with every dino or anything since I've only tested out the Orodromeus, but this happens! Not only that, but whenever I try to join the Australian server it just tells me the request's timed out, but the official american servers work fine.

Increase your max server results in the server browser, I think about 1000 is what Punch usually recommends? Also, go into the Steam settings menu, select the In-Game tab, and change the Max Pings/Min. to a lower number. 500 is what I use

Sure. Everything I'm finding on this indicates it's got to be something on your end. The security software is usually the culprit. Do you also have a firewall running? May need to add exclusions to that too

I dont know whats making this happend (it happend on one other map before but this is the first on Thenyaw (idk if thats how its spelled xD))
And i will rejoin the server to see if that fixes it but id just like to know if its something that happens others?

I can move without problem but on some places i go into the ground, my foot prints are still ontop of it tho
Its like the ground actually goes down but the "plane" or "texture" (best way have of describing it now xD) is not

Is there a way to increase the speed of downloading patches via steam? My internet seems fine and dandy but it takes 4-6hrs to download a small patch while others have it downloaded far faster and/or instantly (Though those instantly ones must have heaven's wifi.)

Was playing dev server no problem yesterday morning and then I downloaded the patch last night and everytime I try to load a server it comes up with a fatal error message? I can run regular branch no problems. Said something about the clouds not loading right.

Not sure what issue this is but as of the latest patch I can't update the game at all. It gets to the final few bytes of info and then pauses the download and says Content file locked. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I find isle v3 is quite a lot more framerate laggy then used to be, as I could run it fine before but I now rubberband and freeze a lot. Might just be your computer is having a heck handling a map.

hey guys i got a question. So if i launch the isle, i can see on the top left hand corner of my screen my FPS rate, when im on menu / selection screen, its like at 50-60 FPS, but as soon as i step into a server to play, my FPS shots down to 8 FPS. And it keeps on happening. Does anyone know why thats the case? Ive been having troubeles with this recently and do not know the solution to this problem.

I'm not sure if this issue has been addressed before, but it seems every update that comes out I have to download it twice. Steam resets the update and goes through it a second time. This wouldn't be a huge issue if I didn't have practically dial up internet but because I do I have to make a point and ask. Is there any known reason for this?

Even after the update going public, my game is still broken. I have tried everything several times already. My game has choppy menu audio, choppy frames, and does not allow me to join or host a server. My only guess is that a file is missing in my game that doesnt come back with a re-install. My last attempt at fixing the game would be getting a fresh copy of the game entirely.

i now have 'Fatal error' message popping up every time I join a server, yes I tried deleting the saved file, I browsed integrity of game files, but it still pops up, I have a short amount of time to play after this message, than another message saying 'The Isle has stopped working'.

Thanks for the feedback Punch, unfortunately it's down to either the SSD or Steam. It's done the preallocating and installation during to first update. It does this with The Isle and only The Isle though. I may have to reinstall the game.

Yup, nothing is working. Tried running my game as an administrator and completely wiping it from my computer. Now it's not even giving me the connection timeout thing it's just staying on the loading screen and not letting me do anything on my laptop when it's stuck on that screen, basically crashing the whole thing.

for the people with the infinite loading screen/black screen when wanting to join a server or hosting a local one after the update. for me it fixed it when i changed the max ping in steam for the serverbrowser from 500 back to default (5000). it was recommended to set it to 500 some time ago when you had trouble finding a certain server or any server. for me changing it back to default fixed the black screen issue

@unborn tendon You're also below our minimum requirements, AMD Radeon R5 Graphics are AMD equivalent of Intel Integrated Graphics. What's most likely happening for you is that your system takes too long to load in, so the server assumes you've timed out.

Just because you were able to run The Isle previously below our minimum requirements doesn't mean you would always be able to. As content gets added it becomes harder and harder for your system to cope, until eventually it just stops working.

Well, you'll definitely need a new system. If you do a lot of PC gaming I highly recommend getting an actual computer instead of a laptop, the benefit of a computer is that you can buy a new part whenever and just take out the old one and stick in the new one like it's lego.

Your CPU is a quadcore, so it's not too bad.. But it's a little slow gigahertz wise. You're using R4 Graphics, which is the equivalent of Intel Integrated. It's basically the default graphics hardware that comes with any AMD/Intel system in-order for the bare minimum graphics work to function, so youtube as an example. Your RAM is also super below minimum, as you have 3.5gb and The Isle requires at least 6GB.

You'd need a new system, I'd highly recommend learning a little about modern computer components.. Which you can do by browsing the recommended specifications of various games to learn what time of components are necessary. They obviously don't tell you what they do, but it gives you an indication that a certain series of graphics card for example is popular.

I'll always recommend a GTX 980Ti or GTX 1060.

Notebook is basically a smaller version of a laptop, but I see you're on a laptop. Anyway, upgrading laptops is often more expensive than just getting a more modern one. It's why I'm biased to desktop computers because I can literally open my computer case and swap out my GPU whenever.

@unborn tendon The reason they have such a drastic price difference in comparison to most laptops is because you're also paying for the GPU, the 1060 which will be doing most of the work while attempting to play games. Most laptops are made for browsing the internet where a high power GPU isn't necessary, so they have integrated graphics that don't cost anything.

@stoic palm Desktop PC's are like adult lego. If my hardware becomes out of date I can just buy a part on it's own instead of getting a new system entirely, then replace the part that is outdated by opening the PC case and swapping it out.

The issue is most likely that if you take too long to load into a dedicated server it assumes that you've timed out, therefore it boots you out. If she's able to host a local server that's most likely the issue, as you can't get booted or timeout from a local server.

@lilac thistle It stays on the loading screen forever, and when I use CTRL + ALT + DEL, it appears that the game has stopped responding. I do not know what's happening, the old version worked perfectly. Windows version 8.1 completely upgraded, video card driver updated, system: I7 2700k, 16Gb RAM, GTX 1050Ti.

@lilac thistle Yes, I already reinstalled the game 2 times, I also checked the integrity of the files on Steam about 3 times. I cleaned the entire registry of The Isle of my pc, I noticed that this problem came in this new version that was in Dev, because at the time I tried to pass the game pro dev to see how it was, but gave this same problem, the game in the mode normal was working quietly. But when this version came into normal mode, the problem came together and the game in normal mode started to have the same problem as in dev. Use HD Western Digital 1TB 7200RPM 64MB Cache 6.0Gb / s.

@lilac thistle I've already done a test and left about 10 minutes on the loading screen, nothing happens, I only realize that there is a problem when I use CTRL + ALT + DEL and the game is like "not responding". and it is so for any server or map that I try to host, even on my own server is so too, I am owner of The Isle Brasil - Realism, and even in it I can not log in anymore.

I can't get into any Thenyaw Island mapped servers. I can still get into V3 just fine. I figure it's my laptop not being able to handle the new map, but I am not too sure. I was getting a Fatal Error earlier, but deleted my save files, and managed to just time out while trying to connect to a server with the Thenyaw Island map.

I can play on all the new map like once or twice but once i log off i cant log back in for hours... I just get a "connection timed out" message or I sit on the loading screen. The game never stops responding, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game and saved files, Restarted steam and my computer. I checked the specs of my computer vs the minimum requirements and i have higher than the recommended. I'm not sure what else to do at this point. I cant play non stop but i cant log out and get back in either...

@lilac thistle I have verified the files multiple times, I have completely logged out and logged back into steam, I have restarted my computer, uninstalled the game through steam and completely erased all the saved files and redownloaded the whole game twice, I also completely deactivated Windows Defender and it still didn’t work. What’s really weird is I can log in once if I haven’t played for a few hours but if I wasn’t to switch servers I can’t get back in at all. I tried for almost 6 hours yesterday googling and trying to fix it.

@lilac thistle I uninstalled the game and moved it to my SSD card. It still will not load into servers. I even took my computer off my wired connection and put it on my hotspot just to see if it might be my internet connection and it gave me the same issue.

It's entirely within a sandbox that you cant escape, so you can only use the program Steam and any Steam games.

Would probably be better taking it up with them versus us, sounds like an issue on their end. I can vouch for the game running just fine on other GTX series cards that are above minimum specs

What happened was, I had a 970, but it died, so now I use their service.
Maybe it is worth asking them to get The Isle its own little icon on their page?

When I install it GeForce warns me it will be wiped because it's not supported by them since The Isle devs have not reached out to Nvidia directly.

Whether that's the truth, I have no idea, but the dialogue box says that The Isle is foreign.

Hmmm. I know you are no dev, but do you have the ability to talk to devs? Maybe they can reach out to Nvidia for support on their geforce now. It would probably gain them a crap ton of players, especially since it would be on the page, but I have a feeling that Nvidia would decline at least until The Isle could get out of Early Access - I have not seen any EA titles on it aside from Fortnite.

It's really tough to say what else you could try without even knowing the GPU or its work load. May just have to deal with lowering your settings for now, if that will improve it.

I keep freezing when playing on the test level map. I never get this kind of performance issue when playing other maps (etc. I play on epic on all other maps with 100+ fps so its not my computer I think). Happens across multiple servers. No error screen pops up, i just freeze for a solid 2 or so minutes at a time and then unfreeze, only to freeze again maybe another 30 seconds after. It gets the worst when in character menu screens.

If you're encountering an infinite loading screen while connecting to servers, or a connection timed out error a potential solution was found by Looter, results may vary from person to person.

First off, right click The Isle in your Steam library > left click properties > local files > browse local files > TheIsle > Saved > Config > then go into the WindowsNoEditor folder. When you're inside the folder, download the Engine.ini file linked

Place the Engine.ini file into your WindowsNoEditor folder.

After you've placed Engine.ini into your WindowsNoEditor folder, simply launch your game and see if you can connect to a server. If you're unable to join a Thenyaw server, try one with V3. Some maps may work, some may not.
