Iam the server owner of a newly started community called Raw!, We are capping out our first 170 player capped server during the weekends, but we are not the biggest yet for obvious reasons, i was wondering if there was a chance to get in contact with any of the developers for a chance of making events on the server with hypos?
Our players are talking about this alot, and i feel like it would be awesome to actually be able to make an event where the hypos will bring destruction!

I’m currently in the middle of trying to setup multiple isle servers off of one machine. I have server 1 and server 2. Server one is using Query port 27015 and server 2 is using 27020. Everyone I have had try can find server 1 but not server 2. There are a few people that can not find server 2 unless I switch query ports and then they flip around. I’d there any way around this issue so that way my server can easily be found my all players?

Never had an issue that only some people can connect. Always be all or none. Not to sure what to tell you.
Sure with a bit of messing around and playing you'll be able to work it out. DOuble check ports, firewall, AV all that annoying stuff. 👍

I recommend joining your server and choosing a dinosaur then logging out. This should create the Saved folder with your file inside.

only time ive heard of burrows crashing servers is when a dryo dies in it or logs out in one (causing the burrow to collapse anyway and kill the dryo), never just by using/destroying them

Yes Dryos in burrows can crash the server. Had a few people and a server owner from another server purposefully doing this on my server. Still can't seem to properly disable them. Not sure if it is DisabledDinosaur=Dryo...or "Dryo"...or DisabledDinosaurs like plural. The only place on the net that talks about it has to do with using Nitrado or some hosting service which I am hosting personally from my own box. I believe it goes in game.ini but I could be wrong. Any help is appreciated.

I set everything up as the guide said, but when I finished the app_update 412680 and when it fully installed, the directed file I selected the server to be in is empty. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've tried uninstalling the app and steamcmd but I still get an empty folder. I also tried looking for the folders that steamcmd said it successfully downloaded but I haven't found anything yet. Any suggestion/help would be greatly appreciated!

@civic linden Sorry I misinterpreted your question, you can change the status of life, hunger, etc. of dinosaurs. But damage, speed and other status is not possible at the moment.

Any ideas why the server won't show up in the server list, despite everything theoretically working? I'm trying to run the server on an EC2 instance through AWS, and have created a security group to permit TCP/UDP traffic on the correct ports (as well as a wider range in case of any issues) but I'm not having any luck, even with the rest of the troubleshooting.

So i have worked on servers that hosted through PingPerfect and Nitrado and know how to set player's dinos though the server files. But now, I'm hosting a survival, growth based server through G-portal. That means i do not have access to things like spino, shant, pue etc. and I cannot find a way to access an editable version of player save files to set people as sandbox dinosaurs. Does anyone know of an access point i would be able to use or is G-portal just designed in this way and I'm stuck like this until the recode comes out and changes how servers work?

Hi Xeno, never used a provider before for the The Isle, but have used Nitrado or gtxgaming as providers for other games, and they have both been quite good, ginving you full access on file level, with either with webinterface access or access via ftp.

Ive been looking into this for hours and I'm finally caving to asking you guys for help. I just recently rented a server through pingperfect and have been trying to figure out how class injections work (since I've seen people playing as spinos and other non-survival dinos on survival servers) and I have a general idea of how to, but every time I edit the player files to change the class and log back in, I'm forced back to the faction selection screen. I've tried this a few different ways now, with downloading the player file, editing, deleting the old and uploading the new, or just flat editing with note++ through the database and saving, with the server either online or offline. I'm wondering where I may be going wrong. Any pointers would be great

Hey sorry to bother, but i'm hosting a server from my comp, and my friends and other joiners can join said server from around the world, so that means the server works, but internally I can't join my own server, got any pointers? I'm asking you because i've basically tried everything from my point of understanding, and this is my first time trying to set up a server. alright, how come I can access my server using different wifi networks, but I can't access my server on the wifi network that the server is using, even when i'm using a different device on an alt-account? any feedback would be greatly helpful to me.

I'm guessing the servers manual IP address and also listed in the bat files is the actual internet connection's external IP address where the author blurred out (AKA your Public WAN address of the router) which seems to be kind of odd that the server machine's internal IP address would be anything other than a Private LAN address(192.168.1.x) in the routers LAN segment since the author is using port forwarding - this step is crucial and seems to have been avoided in this tutorial - could someone define the above by using simple aliases [my.isp.wan.ip + my.isp.subnet + isp.default.gateway] and [192.168.lan.ip + lan.subnet + lan.gateway ] in the correct steps above- unless this tutorials author is actually paying extra for a static ip/29 block - which I can easily fill in the blanks on the tutorial

-also the above posters query - if im hosting a server on 1 pc that is public to everyone else - how do I join locally behind my router do I use the internal LAN ip or is there command arguments to specify my client with a different tcp peer port and udp port to use the wan Ip address

@hexed bluff Tryna wrap my head around what you're actually saying, but the ip that was blurred is the ip that needs to be put in when you make it dedicated. The one in the bat file is the public ip.

If you host the server on one pc then you can join on the same PC.

I am speaking in the language of actual networking and server hosting since 1999 - why are the LAN ips blurred out in the video - if that is a private lan segment address protected behind a routers NAT (ex: 10.0.0.x 192.168.1.x 174.x.x.x) , even leaving enough not blurred out to recognize the basic class c address or private would be sufficient. Where is the official company readme.txt for hosting command line and ports?

btw I figured as much for the bat file for the server browser list would require the WAN.IP the rest of the video ips should not be blurred out unless it is not a LAN IP - then the tutorial is broken unless they pay extra for an actual STATIC IP block. Seems like the often regurgitated YouTube video above but never explained with networking facts is shot off the hip with “I don’t know what I did but works now” at the end

allright so - I tried this on my PC ( was remoted into another users PC prior) this does not work with conventional LAN port forwarding - so with logic Im going to say you manually edited your local PC running the server with your actual ISP's External IP address/subnet mask and gateway instead of using the standard DMZ included in your router - either way since both are exposed to the internet only the manual non DMZ is double NAT'd and only causes lag... going to try this next (even though it is a "Neverdothis" in VLAN/NAT Networking 101) - and break my internet in the quest for knowledge - BTW - please do not confuse my networking sarcasm for any type of angst ")

In the most simplistic terms -
`Local LAN Server behind your router
WIN+R ncpa.cpl ENTER
IPV4 section edit the following
configure manual IP for those that have a Router that does not have IP allocation or starts a DHCP Pool above x.64

my.lan.pvt.adr (or Static IP /29 VLAN usable)
my.lan.pvt.subnet (or Static IP /29 VLAN subnet)
my.lan.pvt.gateway (or Static IP /29 VLAN Gateway address)
(do not share staticip/29)
Manual DNS
8.8.8.8 (Google DNS)
8.8.4.4 (Google DNS)

or how networking is supposed to be accomplished behind NAT Translation

DMZ Enable your Local PC (my.lan.pvt.adr) LAN IP, or Static NAT your Static IP Address (ie /29 block of 5 you Purchased from you ISP in addition to your internet service cost)

ISLE server bat file add * my.isp.wan.adr (or Static IP /29 usable) as the ip address for the steam server browser for UE4 - behind ?Multihome

Port Forwarding (this overides anything else in your router including DMZ) can be pointed to the Servers IP Address(or Manual IP/Static IP /29 address)
but for Static IP /29 address this is not required since there is no Firewall protection functions for any VLAN STATIC IP - considered business class
For 1
7777 TCP/UDP
27015 TCP/UDP
For 2
7777-7778 TCP/UDP
27015-27015 TCP/UDP
For 3
7777-7779 TCP/UDP
27015-27017 TCP/UDP
For 4
7777-7780 TCP/UDP

Ensure you have allowed custom inbound firewall rules for said ports above for TCP/UDP in ContolPanel/Firewall on Server Host

@naive onyx seems to be a NAT type issue in ones router (if your router has the option to change it ) needs to be Open (DMZ mode for those who's routers are restricted) or change NAT Security to Minimal (most standard inbound ports requests are not auto blocked) or the most drastic "Static NAT rule based on LAN IP (this is a tool is normally used for purchased static IP Blocks when you have a business class firewall behind your internet modem) - my problem is solved - so I can join via Steam Server browser or under LAN option in Game

The Internal Servers IP is only a Private LAN address (ie 192.168.1.x) the Multihome? IP is your (WAN IP - do not share) now for those with routers that auto assign IP addresses 192.168.1.64-192.168.1.253 in their DHCP Pool.... this is where you can manually assign a static IP in your Computers LAN adapter below the assignable (ie IP 192.168.1.10 , subnet 255.255.255.0 GW 192.168.1.254) or use assignable via your routers ip allocation page and assign it to one from x.64 - x.253

Do not forget to edit your firewall rules inside of control panel/firewall for said server for 7777-7780 and 27015-27018

Ultimate goal was to be able to join via same computer hosting said server(will always be running) also via the steam server browser and any other PC on my internal Network(ie Family Members)

Hi all, looking for a bit of feedback here. I have a dedicated server running at home, I'm not new to running various game servers. All port forwards and firewall rules have been sorted out (TCP/UDP 7777-7778 and TCP/UDP 27015-27016). I'm wondering if it's something in my launch options causing my server to not appear in the global list:

I have a quick question about the setting for a server.
I assume the default is just good enough, but is "ServerDeadBodyTime=" set in seconds if I put "10" there? I assumed it might be every ten seconds it's like...a tick off the corpse, but I wanted to ask about that so I don't mistakenly set a time for bodies to despawn that lags the server because they last forever.

If the server setup for people who run them off of their personal rigs changes from what it is now (which is certainly) can the devs please post a step by step guide for how to setup the server on their PC? I am pretty good with computers but no formal education on hosting & internet stuff so finding a viable setup guide online was quite difficult for a long time inaccessable.

Getting your own community off the ground is a hustle. Poach from other communities if you have to; it's all a giant social game. If you're not out being social, you won't attract people.

sadly the most players got their Big servers / like to play on full populated servers / youtuber servers.

For example, i am often on the Official Isle server to make friends and get them over but i wouldn't go on other privates because it's dirtyx

anyway, i am sure since the beginning, with time come people, Numbers are growing fast on the Discord but also People get bored and leave because they think recode is a big scam and we can't change anything about that, more and more abandon the game atleast til the recode really comes out

You can also have a Discord with 200+ Members but all you ever see the whole day is max 10 players

i live in South Africa
i love the game the isle but playing on overseas servers my ping is always very high.
so i rented a server from GamingEvolved.co.za
my servers name are THE SA ISLE SERVER i wood love promoting growing the game.

when can the isle be on promotion on steam for 50% of ?

Currently running a server through GTX, but having difficulty finding it ingame. It usually takes a good 5-20+ refreshes for it to show, but everything on the GTX control panel says it's fine, and once ingame there's no issues. I can see other servers, and they show up the first try, but ours won't.

the delete key shows all players/a.i, if ur not in spectator it'll only show a small radius of it, then spectator will show it all

@oblique cape all survival dino's are enabled if ur in the default survival so idk why they told you that you had to put them in there to enable them, obviously trolling and no help at all

safe log is when you wait until the logout timer is gone and then logout

you still need to safe log on other servers pretty sure, they might have a bot in-game that accesses the files and then when they type a command in the discord it changes their dino

Depending on the server they will only give out males, if they dont want any nesting to happen. But some servers also give out females, who often nest, giving you a third option on how to get to play one of the non survival dinos.

What does it mean? Nesting? Like.. dinosaurs can "mate" in the game?

females can nest, there isn't a mating feature. in the files when looking at a players file there is a line that will say "bGender":
false = male, true = female

that's the thing you don't know the steam Id of the person in discord. We have 2 different money systems the bot checks to see if they have the funds when a player requests the dino. If found that they do then the bot asks for the needed info in a templet and they send it back so the injection can happen.

dominus I'm no expert, but I just started hosting my own server and the only way I know is to add the steam ID (number not name) to the line in the game.ini 'ServerAdmins=', I think you need 1 line for each admin.

Also with admin commands dominus you have /goto name, /slay name, /bring name, /kickid their steamID reason, /banid their steamid time reason. Also have /time and then put it in 24 hour time and /weather but I wouldn't touch those too often

there isn't a way to buy dino's unless a server has disabled them and makes you pay to unlock them

#

you can join servers and there will be options of dinos for you to choose from, those are survival dino's and are seen on survival game mode servers. There are also non-survival dinos that you can see when playing on sandbox servers

if you're on a survival server and want a non survival dino you'll have to ask for one in that servers discord or something

I'm a big stuck with a new server from a hoster (Nitrado), some players get a black screen when they try to connect. So they should be in the Herby/Carni selection but they have a black screen instead and this happened to me a few times too. Seems to work sometimes and then doesn't work other times, but even with the black screen we can all hear the music and the buttons when we hover our mouses over where they should be. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this?

hello @naive onyx , I tried your tutorial to build a server, however when I start the server and I try the Isle from the same PC I get an error: "The game failed to properly connect to setup the Steam Online Subsystem. Please ensure steam is running and try restarting your computer." The steam is running, server is running, ports are opened, settings are made exactly like in the tutorial, what can be the issue? I even tried with a DNS instead of an IP address to rule out the static IP issue.

I fixed it by removing some parts of the server starting link
there was something that was not allowing me to connect to steam
and also steamCMD I created a script to run it automatically and I had something wrong there as well

You can restart or stop the specific server in the root or restart/stop the whole root server. Every server hoster is different but there should be a option to set it up. Contact your server hoster for more information.

Issue is that you can see it initializes, sets the map & goes inprogress. Which basically means it should run

You sure firewalls are open & ports forwarded to the servers? As Well have you tried to set a strict ip with multihome? (In case it doesnt find without)

Try to ping the servers ip see if there is some kind of connection

after that the easiest way to test it by adding it to the steam server browser as favorites, since it guarantees to more or less always find the server ~ as where Ingame you can end up refreshing a couple of times

It depends if your pc has multi ip inputs - if you just have one you cant split it with multihome

Another solution you can do is list your main ip, then divide the servers with ports

#

Like server 1: port 7777, query 7778 ... server: 7779, query 7780 etc and onwards

@modest patrol If its the server itself its always prefered to restart as least as possible - we do it once - tops twice a week.

We have daily game server restarts by having .bat files containing code to "taskkill" the game servers, then in Task Scheduler (windows program) have them start back up around 30 seconds after close

Best case, contact whoever you bought/rent/host your servers on & see if they can change the IPs - or enable some DDOS protecting tools.

Usually a firewall would have nothing to do with actual viruses on your pc - its more of you network being "attackable"

Technically you can be lucky, but since you have firewall currently 'on' I'd imagine you have to port forward the gameserver port & query port you enabled. Take in mind these ports will be closed again, since you have the servers running in their spots.

Regarding the comments made in the discussion chat, if it is really optimized it could consume up to 16 gb, the important thing is to correct the ping problem above 100 players.

The transmitted data increases in geometric progression but even if you use the best resources, the problem is located in the application that leaves the server online.

So I have a question that I think only a dev is going to be able to answer. I currently host a server on the isle and want to continue doing so after everything is released. With what I have seen about the size of the map and the issues with one server being able to run it I'm worried that my current setup won't cut it. With out giving away to much info is there anything you can tell me to try and prepare for this as for server requirements or even the number of servers I will need to host, to fully support the game. @shrewd basin not speaking from direct experience with The Isle, but I have hosted servers for bigger games suck as Ark, Atlas, and Arma 3 loaded with mods. I don't imagine a server for The Isle is horribly resource heavy to the point where you'd have to worry about hardware. Depending on your current hardware, and of course how many people you plan to have on the server at once, you should be just fine with a light hardware config. For example, I've run 2 Ark servers on an old quad-core AMD with 8GB of RAM and didn't have any issues. Granted there were less than 5 people, so there wasn't a lot of data coming and going.

3 questions:

How will hosting a server in EVRIMA look like? Can one run a server on Legacy and EVRIMA at the same time?

Also, how would you make two dedicated servers on the same machine? Like what would the external and internal port numbers be for a second one?

@slender finch yes you can, so far its public that the game will have multiple branches like envrima & legacy. So unless something changes, then yes.

Also for your port, thats easily possible - you select yourself what range they have - i suggest having the main server running standard ports, then for second one you just bump it it up with +1 so they dont overlap

and hey @final dove since you seem to be the server guru here, what will we have to do with the update to ensure the servers are working? Will they let us know what server options are available, will there be new options? Or can we simply update the server and change the map and we're good?

I think they will let know, but i believe you can add -beta evrima or -beta legacy to the server configuration line in your bat and decide what branch you would be on.

I don't know which one will be default, so it kinda depends on that (If you the normal game will be default & you need to change into evrima .. or if evrima is default and you need to select the legacy)

So depending on the game you wanna have your servers on there should be a commandline to swap branch, and i think they announced they will have 3 different branches so far

so I was thinking, with legacy it might be best to have only 100 slots per server? Your thoughts. I was thinking this about your servers actually with them having 150 and the AI issues, you know having 3 servers at 100 versus 2 at 150, might make the servers better with AI, just a thought.

I was thinking of legacy to keep them at 115-150 slots as we have currently at least.
For Evrima i am unsure if its only the public servers that will be capped at 50, or if private servers will be too ~~ so unsure there, if its not capped i believe we will try 100 slots

so if we applied that to the isle, we'd be able to change, grow times, health amounts, bite forces, etc etc.

Depends on what you want to spend, the size of server, and your level of tech. If your tech is high using a old gaming rig is the most cost effective way and maybe the most reliable. If not just search server hosts I have used most of them they all seem to work but all have different issues. Like updating the game a week after the update came out or having the servers so locked down you can't really change much. I have also had issues with their hardware going down and 2 days later they decide to respond back to your ticket that your server is down.@plucky dragon

A rented server would cost roughly 100-150$ for a month for roughly 150 slots

Where as you can technically rent a machine in a datacenter for 80$ and host 4-5 servers on that instead

It really depends on your community.

Sometimes a random player pop up. He/She is maybe looking for a server to play on or is a new player. If you be nice and kind to these players the may stay and play on your server.

The more ppl you have on you server 10+ for example the more likely it is that more players will join. If there is a friendly atmospehere you can fill your server with players.

Would anyone mind helping answer a question I have? Earlier in Paradym's stream, it seemed like he was saying that we will be unable to host a dedicated server upon initial release due to the binaries being unavailable and still being a work in progress. Does anyone know whether this the case or not? Or will third party providers be able to host Evirma Servers day one? Otherwise having to play on Official Servers only until the server hosting binaries are released to the public?

A friend and I are considering splitting the costs on an Isle server via PingPerfect. For the upcoming map's update, for 20 slots (till we need more), will we need "extra memory" for smooth operation? Already have SSD and Above Normal CPU selected.

Is the map for Isla Spero on Google Images the correct map for the update? Trying to find a good spot for our server to have a "Safezone" that has bushes for herbis, a water supply, and a good spot to hang out at.
