#How to provide steam engines with heat

Can I revive this post? I'm in the same situation, but I'm failing to understand the use of the steam engine honestly. You have to constantly feed it just to keep even one thing like a single deployer running. Water wheels work nonstop. Steam engines use up fuel nonstop even if youre not using the machines its powering. And despite providing 256 su, the steel tier shafts can't use more than 128 anyways. Am I missing something?
The steam engine just seems like a waste of copper and resources when water wheels do the exactly same thing but for forever and without using fuel of any kind.
Wind mills the best
Windmill with 8 sails is equivalent to a Water Wheel.
Maxed windmill (128 sails) is equivalent to 8 Large Waterwheels or 2 Steam Engines, but you can't output all the stress out of the maxed windmill until Aluminium-tier Greate.
And also, the fuel usages are set to be the exact same as GT boilers, so using Steam Engines to generate electricity is useless since you can do the exact same with GT generators.
So what you're saying is that I'm not crazy, the steam engines really are kind of a waste of resources, lol.
Using liquids in boilers, at least.
IDK about solid fuels, especially those that Superheat
Superheating gives 2 levels to a boiler and superheating duration is hardcoded to 160 seconds, so maybe there boilers would be any more useful over GT boilers
the steam engines are more useful when you need a lot more SU
like, for an EBF or something
steam engine is primitive large steam turbine
