#WINE black context menu with .NET program

Hi. I just installed Arch on my 8845hs + 4070 laptop. Using Plasma (plasma-desktop package, the minimal one in archinstall) and Nvidia-open drivers.

I then installed wine by just doing sudo pacman -S wine in order to run dnSpyEx, which is a .NET program. When I run it, the issue in the picture is present. I thought the problem was not having dotnet48 installed, but that had no effect. Fonts didn't help either.

I then tried the AUR package for the same program, just to check that I didn't mess up the WINE attempt myself, but the same issue was present. So I'm guessing it's some problem outside of the WINE setup.

Any clue? Thank you.

I remember doing this on Mint and it worked OOTB. If that helps.

Oh and if I use winetricks to force Wayland, the issue turns into half the program being blank white when the context menu opens.

#

this pretty much sums up everything I did on the install after archinstall, not much:

#

Also, enabling virtual desktop in WINE fixes it, but that's not ideal.

This also works wine reg add "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D" /v "renderer" /t REG_SZ /d "gdi" /f

#

just dont know why

#

or how i can fix the root issue

Oof, that sounds like something you'd have better luck running natively. Even then I still have PTSD from dabbling with .NET on linux empty

Im unsure for the black context menu... you could try wine-tkg-staging or my overkill nvidia wine dep list to get this to work. I personally go through lutris for my weird windows only apps.

It could be a million thing causing this but tkg patch is good for this sort of bugs. The blizzard battle net launcher does the exact same thing if its not using staging-tkg.
