huion drawing tablet not working on krita, possibly 2 problems

im on gnome and i've been trying to get my huion drawing tablet to work with krita and opentabletdrivers, the only mode it detects my inputs is with absolute mode after resseting all of the krita settings, how do i make krita work with opentabletdrivers artist mode, i've noticed on drawpile (a different drawing app) that artist mode works on it but if i lift my pen too high it deletes or stops the cursor inputs and that app had difficulty, if that happened i'd need to switch tabs to make it work again, currently krita also just doesnt detect my pen at all
