Hi, yesterday I "pacman -Syu" all my packages and today my arch won't get past login screen (so basically after the reboot) ((used "dd" cause there were some conflicts with "vlc" as I recall? but im not sure)
What's weird is that SDDM's "insertion point" in password field doesn't flash but clock in the right upper corner updates just as usual but I can't insert anything like whole screen is frozen
My best guess is that removing some packages would fix that but idk how to go to arch without desktop enviroment? (I've read I could use bootable linux to manage or something but wanted to ask here)

Try and boot into a tty maybe?

And then go from there

the problem is that I've tried using ctrl+alt+f2 or other but it seems that login screen is not responding to any of my inputs - anything before that is a fair game, like grub or smth

As I started looking around I've noticed that insert point blinks for a few first seconds and then slows down until it seems like login screen freezes - but even before that I can't move my mouse nor use my keyboard 🫠

Had the same issue, you need to restart sddm

CTRL + ALT + F2 to open a new TTY, and systemctl stop sddm, and restart it.

Then update the system again.

I've found some way to get to the terminal, will try that tomorrow cause I'm kinda tired with it today, thanks for suggestions. I'll be back with results soon 👍

Ultimately I've just copied what I needed from personal files and reinstalled Arch
