#[SOLVED] System Kernel Panics when trying to install Arch on Lenovo IdeaPad 320
54 messages ยท Page 1 of 1 (latest)
is this after you install it?
it's after pacman installed all the packages, during installation
I'll try doing it again, using archinstall
I think I'll use hdparm to wipe off the SSD completely. Maybe it happened cuz I had too much gunk operating systems installed on it
@royal otter should I use btrfs or ext4?
filesystem
I'm setting it to automatically set up partitions
ext4 for simplicity
working fine during install
sending another video
breaks here
pick the lts kernel instead
alright
only the lts and unselect the default one right?
yes
again kernel panic
Post the current panic
that's the same laptop I use too
Aha! ๐
ideapad 320
That's a very good sign
das crazy
If you ever get a panic, look for the RIP log, that shows what actually crapped out
I'm not entirely sure how to proceed though. I don't think you can really run old linux-firmware safely
now that I think about it, my first hyprland install broke after a system update too
at that time I thought it was just hyprland being hyprland but I wasn't able to boot into KDE either
annoyingly there is not much to go on
If you can locate whatever firmware module is causing this you might be able to downgrade to a working one, or blacklist the module maybe
This is looking like a hardware bug ๐
then it likely wont work if I try to install it on another laptop either huh
well I was going to get another laptop soon anyways so not much of a problem
I would probs try the lts kernel, and maybe another distro live iso to see if this is replicable or arch specific
I'll just debloat the windows installed on this one and give it away to someone
I did try installing bazzite and linux mint
didn't work
Similar panics?
those didn't really show the terminal so I couldn't really tell. But the capslock button started blinking back then too, just like in this video
lmao
ik a couple of kids who just play browser games
this device has 8 gigs of RAM and a decent 256GB SSD so it's gonna run 12 tabs just fine
!solved
how do I-
... solved
