#[SOLVED] I3 & Sway keybinds not working
41 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
use sway not i3, and you need the terminal installed before you can launch it
check the default config file
yep haha, we even installed 'foot' term first, so that can't be an issue
no problems with the config either
attach the config here
mod+return doesnt work?
its just the default config, he installed it last night and started having problems right away
im fairly sure none of the keybinds work
of the problem happening
i can't send a vid rn, cus he's at work at the moment
but there isnt rlly much to vid
i made sure his config was in ~/.config/sway
mod+shift+e doesnt exit sway?
try that
good idea, I'll get back to you with the results when he's ready
if it works then he doesn't have foot installed
or foot is failing to launch
somehow
well yeah, but how would that explain the workspaces not changing?
honestly it might be a prob with his mod key, Im gonna make him switch it to alt as well to see if it fixes it
pressing the wrong key
or something
does exiting work?
i'll be able to see in like 15 mins, he's eating rn
You do have foot installed, correct?
yeah, he has foot. that was the first thing i made him try
when he gets back im going to try having him switch his mod key
Probably a good idea. After that, it might be worth having him check include /etc/sway/config.d/* to explicitly include his home/.config/sway/*
It shouldn't be needed of course, but still
If he has a razer keyboard, he might have this lock on that makes it so you can't press any keycombos with the windows key or anything. Might be on other keyboards too and honestly it took me quite a while to figure out and see that of course it was my stupid razer keyboard fricking it all up again when I had thsi very same issue
I think it can be disabled with FN + O or something like that, and the key should also glow white if it's enabled
That's... a good theory actually
