Remove the esp flag from p1, then windows and Linux will be separated better

fringe wind
#

yes, it shows nothing

fringe wind
#

oh got it

#

but it also disable boot flag

fringe wind
#

Oh, ok i'll try installing again now without those flag

shut plaza
#

This shouldn't affect windows finding the drive

If a partition was mounted at /boot and you used systemd-boot with a separate ESP then the bls_boot (XBOOTLDR) flag would be right

Note that systemd-boot can only start EFI executables (e.g., the Linux kernel EFI boot stub, UEFI shell, GRUB, or the Windows Boot Manager) from the EFI system partition it is installed to or from an Extended Boot Loader Partition (XBOOTLDR partition) on the same disk.

Because IIRC this can happen when the installer was created wrongly

I downloaded iso from microsoft website, then using ventoy, a unattended.xml

#

It's still showing hmm...

#

Let me try using rufus

shut plaza
#

ventoy with the windows iso has worked for me

fringe wind
#

rufus not avalable on linux, gonna try balena then

fringe wind
#

i really have trouble using ventoy before

#

oh btw using normal mode on ventoy gave me this error

#

oh i was using ventoy-bin

#

yea im installing

#

oh wow ventoy ate my .iso

#

now i have to redownload it

shut plaza
#

Lol of course if you move your iso to the ventoy partition and remove the partition

fringe wind
#

my bad sorry xd

#

uhhhh

#

@opal coral how do i...

#

it is my flash drive

#

i dont really know how to run it with sudo anymore xd

#

gonna read the wiki then

#

can you help with this?

#

maybe sth wrong with the display or sth

shut plaza
fringe wind
#

i rebooted

#

still havent update kernel

shut plaza
#

#

test if that works

this is not about drives, this is about drivers
ventoy doesn't work well with latest win isos, the installer will compalin it needs some drivers

#

oh you're moving to woeusb, seems about the right direction to go

fringe wind
winter plover
#

did you upgrade withotu rebooting recently?

shut plaza
winter plover
fringe wind
#

but ill try to update and reboot now

winter plover
#

if it doesn't match with what's in the folder, that means you upgraded

shut plaza
# fringe wind

The running kernel is newer than the one in lib/modules

#

So for some reason /lib/modules is out of date

winter plover
shut plaza
#

nvm yeah

#

I read wrong

fringe wind
#

huh, that's weird? I rebooted so many time already

#

let me try updating again then reboot

#

ngl but idk what to do now

winter plover
#

well check if your running kernel matches now

#

and then just run woeusb again

fringe wind
#

still

winter plover
#

is your running kernel the right version now?

#

uname -r

shut plaza
#

Update again

fringe wind
#

idk if this was the proper way to update the kernel

winter plover
#

have you rebooted tho?

fringe wind
#

Yes

winter plover
#

and what's uname -r showing now

fringe wind
winter plover
#

okay we're runnign the rigth kver

shut plaza
#

pacman -Qs linux

winter plover
#

might wanna use woeusb-ng instead tbh

#

it has a gui

fringe wind
fringe wind
#

it's working let's gooooo

fringe wind
#

Uhhh... What??

#

Is this normal?

shut plaza
#

Maybe the windows iso is bootstrapped from grub

fringe wind
#

Got it

fringe wind
#

Uhhh...

winter plover
#

rip

fringe wind
#

Well, got it working somehow, using set root

#

But everytime i reboot, it's still there

#

How to reinstall grub without live boot?

winter plover
#

Grub-install

#

And then grub-mkconfig

fringe wind
winter plover
#

see sudo dmesg | grep ntfs3

#

@fringe wind

fringe wind
fringe wind
winter plover
#

Okay, install ntfs-3g, then run ```
sudo ntfsfix -d /dev/sdX

#

Then try again

fringe wind
winter plover
#

Ah hibernated Windows lol

fringe wind
#

lol

#

how

winter plover
#

Wait q bit

#

Boot to windows

#

And press shutdown while holding shift in windows

#

This makes Windows truly shutdown instead of entering semi-hibernation state

fringe wind
#

alright thank brb

#

Alright im in!!

#

Thank you everyone so much! 😭 🙏

winter plover
#

very nice
