alright i'm trying to test this old laptop, it seems it's alright. the games now look way better and run way better.

alright i don't know about all games but i'm trying to run Vrchat with steam... once i load an avatar it freezes

the GRBM values go to 0. when that happen. the game freezes and i have to restart.

I thought at first it was a throttle cpu issue, maybe, I used cpupower to lower my cpu ghz... tried to go for 2.2ghs or 1.5ghz... and only go to 1 world and run 1 avatar.

and yeah it seems like something with the drivers or some settings are doing it. my gpu is just for render(that's what dxdiag on windows showed me last time i used windows) it's old and yeah .... just having fun with it at the moment... I play to try other games... maybe it's only this game...

I suspect because i have 2 gpus

have you set up prime? It usually defaults to running on the igpu

while runing steam in the cli i saw a line that says

default_gpu_id: 1 ... so it knows...

i think the main issue is proton ..

i'm using the proton hotfix which is probably doing the problem... i'm installing proton 9.0... let's hope now that when i go to compatibility and then hit the button on the gui that it will switch

now i go to the gui in the steam settings and to compativility i try to change it from proton hotfix to the version i installed.. but nothing ... it's still stuck at proton hotfix

needed to get hybrid GPU working on any system that isn't old Intel/amd + nvidia

Its literally a feature of mesa yes

#

The only real requirement is having a dri2 driver, and dri1 got phased out well over a decade ago
