I've created a simple swabg.desktop file in ~/.config/autostart/ and it doesnt work,
Im trying to get this to autoexecute
/usr/bin/swaybg -i ~/Downloads/Documents/start.png or simply swaybg -i ~/Downloads/Documents/start.png

#

Tried several variations of syntax

Type=Application
Terminal=false
Name=swaybg
Exec=sh -c '/usr/bin/swaybg -i ~/Downloads/Documents/start.png'```
#
Type=Application
Terminal=false
Name=swaybg
Exec=/usr/bin/swaybg -i ~/Downloads/Documents/start.png```
#
Type=Application
Terminal=false
Name=swaybg
Exec=swaybg -i ~/Downloads/Documents/start.png```
#

and so on

@sick ridge why do that instead of adding that to your startup..sh

sick ridge
#

because I do not know about startup.sh and the only other app on my pc that autostart is mullvad in ~/.config/autostart and looking online it looked super easy to just make a custom desktop file, but looks like its not.

(I tried chmod +x in case that was the issue but nope.) I'll look up your suggestion

#

Still silly that I cant make a stupid command exec at startup.

#

Weird even using xfce's settings doesnt work

can't you just put
swaybg -i foo >/dev/null 2>&1
into ~/.config/labwc/autostart? that's what their docs suggest

sick ridge
#

Yet the command works every time

#

Nope we tried that for few hours

#

As per another post I made

ah

Needs to run the daemon first

That'll autostart each boot?

long girder
#

if everything doesn't work

#

Yah I saw that on the arch wiki and some forums

#

Hmm labwc config seems to be here according to htop

#

But the autostart still doesnt work

#

Dam

#

Got it to work but somehow gets overwriten a sec later like earlier

#

Like I can see the bg a second then it disapears but the labwc config works now

#

I guess its how xfce4 and labwc interacts and the bg doesnt stick somehow.

#

Oh well. I'll go eat and ponder if I try KDE again or nah.

#

Marking this as solved fsdeshrug

Thanks again both of you @long girder @broken yoke
