I am stuck on installing arch linux and hyprland on a virtual machine in virtualbox when I finish I take out the iso and I boot it up and it doesn't go into hyperland and says please log in username (I put in root) and password (I put 1234) and it doesn't boot into hyprland and just gives me a command line back at the start (I set the password to 1234 and I can only add root when I try to add a user it says invalid username)
#I can't install Hyprland or any desktop with arch install

Did you create a user in the archinstall config? If you did, log into it and try running Hyprland
I tried and I think I found the fix as it works now when I don't use a capital L for the user
I am retrying the installation
Yeah avoid putting capital letters in your username
fixing the capital letter and having it uncapitalized fixed it
nevermind it loads up the first part when I log in it crashes
hello?
When you log into your user or launch Hyprland?
when I log in
I can record and show you
Just to check, is 3D acceleration enabled in the VM settings? Their wiki say that is required for it to work in VMs
It might not be the exact same setting in Virtualbox, but something similar to that
okay I can look into that and see if it is
it was not enabled
now when I launch it it is just black
I see something open but then instantly close
Try switching to a TTY with ctrl + alt + F[2-6], logging into your user, and running the Hyprland command
Ok so you're getting into Hyprland at least
From a TTY, try running kitty to make sure it is installed
Sorry, I was eating lunch
It looks to be installed
Do either of the other keybinds like Win + E or Win + R work?
@night beacon
no they don't
but I found out how to do it
and it is just by not using arch install
and manually doing it
@grizzled kelp
well I have plasma on here now time to get hyprland
no I am good
nevermind I need help with audio working as the audio won't work
Make sure you have the pipewire, pipewire-pulse, and pipewire-jack packages installed if you're on KDE
Does systemctl status --user pipewire pipewire-pulse wireplumber show everything as running?
If you just installed them you'll have to reboot before they start working
Try doing systemctl soft-reboot and logging back in
that worked thank you
I am having a problem installing hyprland
as it is not showing up on the profile portion to click on it
Do you mean on the login screen?
Sorry for the long response time
yes I mean that part
