type about:config in the address bar.
in the search bar type gfx.webrender.all and set it to true.
in the search bar type media.ffmpeg.vaapi.enabled and set it to true.
restart firefox and try a video if it doesn't work idk what will
nope, still using the entire CPU.
nvidia or amd gpu?
Doesn't seem to work on nvidia on my side
But works on amd gpus
Firefox understand only VA-API HW acceleration. VA-API do not support Nvidia proprietary drivers.
Does chromium based browsers use your nvidia gpu if they do then it's your only option
It might require some setup to make it work with nvidia
Also on firefox if you use the Nouveau driver it might work but know that nouveau is considered worse than the proprietary driver as it offers lower performance
more like nvidia does not have vaapi drivers
the way you worded made it sound like it's a vaapi issue although it's an nvidia driver issue
but anyways, there is a translation layer over nvdec
