so im trying to set up my laptop to connect to my chinese chromecast (which has been confirmed to still work), and this is what happens
#Gnome Network Displays connects to sink, says "Error", refuses to elaborate

found an app that implements the chromecast function on android devices; trying to connect to that crashes both the receiver app and gnome network displays. works fine between my phones

i should probably try doing this on a different distro to figure out if this is a hardware or a software issue

m-kay, fedora liveusb shows exactly the same results down to apparently crashing my chinese chromecast as well
this does not answer the distro question but it means this is not caused by any weirdness in my software configuration
maybe, just maybe, i'll be able to screencast from windows
but i need to install windows to try that
