any time my computer goes to sleep, when i wake it up all i can see is a black screen with the cursor, often times i have to ctrl-alt-backspace to reload plasma in order to get back on my pc, and i'd rather not do that

happens to me sometimes, I wonder why that is

#

you having nvidia graphics?

#

also the workaround that I use is switching to tty1 then back to tty2

strange basin
#

yep

fast swan
#

is it anytime your PC goes to sleep?

strange basin
#

yes

fast swan
#

try this

#

I believe it worked for me

#

or you can wait for someone more experienced to answer to you

strange basin
#

hm

#

no idea how to apply this kernel module parameter

#

figured it out

fast swan
#

howd you install nvidia drivers

strange basin
#

through pacman

fast swan
#

yeah but which ones

#

i'd rather you wait for someone more experienced though

#

you can still try my solution because it worked for me

#

and just revert if it didn't

#

the way I did this

#

is created /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia.conf

#

and added the following line

#

options nvidia NVreg_PreserveVideoMemoryAllocations=1

#

and enabled nvidia-suspend.service, nvidia-hibernate.service and nvidia-resume.service

#

with systemctl enable

#

and rebooted

#

if it didn't fix the issue

#

you can just revert easily

strange basin
#

ah

#

i did it through the modprobe command

#

and idk how to enable those services

#

ok i figured out how to enable them despite the fact you told me how

#

and i forgot to reboot oops

#

did not seem to work

#

then again i didn't make a file in modprobe.d but i also kinda can't for some reason

fast swan
#

hey

#

sorry for answering so late

#

try contacting the official arch wiki forum

#

I am not yet skilled to help you enough

#

but at least I tried :d

strange basin
#

fixed by switching to wayland lmao
