Installing Arch on a Chromebook

Yo guys, I'm trying to install Arch (dualboot with ChromeOS) on a Chromebook (with RW_Legacy)

I have already asked on the Chrultrabook forum where they told me I tried to install EFI bootloader on a Legacy system

I know how to install it on EFI systems but I have never made it on a Legacy system

Would appreciate any help

Do they use BIOS (MBR)?

Just don't, a Chromebook bios is usually a bastard to get into (it's locked down hard)

You have to take it apart to allow you to access bios

Something on the mobo that stops it from allowing you bios access

Well, I don't really know much about Chromebooks, I got mine for free (was new, still in box) and I take whats free lmao

Unless you feel like opening up your Chromebook just don't

Live with chrome os and use the Linux part of it

You still have a terminal after all

Yeah thats what I'm using right now but I miss my window managers

Basically you don't have to disable the read lock with that

But from my understanding you will have the "OS verification is off" screen on every boot

Well, it tiles your windows basically, I use a Window Manager instead of a Desktop Environment (Gnome or KDE Plasma for example) because I just like them

Don't try to use different OS on a Chromebook

So about the chromebook, would it be smarter to just buy a cheap ultrabook with decent specs and put Arch on it?

I've been using Chromebooks for about 5ish years

And never ever touched the OS
