So I’m using a dell optiplex 3050 mini and it’s stuck at 800 MHz clock speed when the cpu should be able to go up to 3.2 GHz, I believe this is due to dell bios throttling the cpu speeds because I’m not using a dell power plug, and I don’t want to get a dell power plug I’ve tried to use the throttled package, CPU power and editing the grub boatload to ignore pcc, I don’t know if doing it wrong or if there’s something I haven’t considered

get another adapter, doesn't have to be dell, jsut have to be compatible
try journalctl --grep=intel_powerclamp aswell
Id like my computer to be compatible with whatever I power it with, I will do that grew though
then you have to make it compatible
and conform to dell's id system
usually it's just a simple resistor or something
either you could hotwire it directly inside your dell laptop or modify your power brick or just get a dell adaptor, wether it be a usb c to dell one or a generic 19v to dell adapter
that's like literally the worst hill to die on ngl
I’ll have to see
But I will die on this hill until I can properly power my pc by sticking two bare wires in the outlet and inlet sockets
Actually that would never work but the point stands
When I get home from work I’ll provide some more documentation of what I’ve been doing, if you have any ideas for documentation you’d like to see just ask
This is normal, I dont remember how I did it but by default neofetch reports per core. 4x800=3.2GHz
The neotfetch problem in this is 3.2 ghz vs 3.6 GHz
Also it displays 800 MHz clock speed in the bios setting
It’s at 800 MHz because the bios is throttling it down to 25% total speed
I7z and CPU power both say my speeds capped at 800 MHz
Also cores are supposed to be running at the speed the cpu should be, which would be 3.2 GHz
I’m still going to run some of the stuff in that Reddit post though so thanks!
This guy had a similar problem and my previous research points to the same conclusion so I’ll try following this guy
Glad it could be of help
Tried this maybe did wrong, going to bed
