I get that Wayland doesn't play nice with global hotkeys, but I can't find anything about what to do if x11 global hotkeys aren't working.
Particularly, I'm trying to use OBS hotkeys so I can save a replay buffer.
I normally use Awesome WM, but I have also tested it in KDE. OBS does not seem to receive the global hotkeys in either case.
I just want OBS to be able to receive the key combos regardless of whether it is in focus or not

I don't think so, but I tested it on KDE also, and it doesn't work there either

okay so it's an issue with my keyboard I think
because doing the key combo normally works even when not focused on OBS, but doing the key combo by pressing the macro key I set up only works when focused on OBS
weird
not sure why my macro key only works when focused on OBS, but that's a different problem I guess
