When I run archinstall, it says checking version... and then 10 seconds later returns "Arch Linux mirrors are not reachable. Please check your internet connection"

I am connected to internet as far as I can tell--I can ping Google and other websites.

I have tried to update the mirror list using reflector. When using --sort rate, it runs slowly and keeps returning error messages that say "WARNING: failed to rate http(s) download (...): download timed out after 5 seconds" which makes me think that it's unable to connect or something

I've installed arch on this laptop before (recently), but I am trying to redo the installation process and get a clean install

when I go to download packages with pacstrap /mnt ..., it says "error: failed retrieving file 'core.db' from geo.mirror.pkgbuild.com : :SSL: no alternative certificate subject matches target hostname 'geo.mirror.pkgbuild.com'

then later "GPGME error: no data"

and ultimately fails to install
