#COSMIC DE shows blank screen when ran from a display manager

Problem: COSMIC DE shows a blank screen with a blinking underscore when ran from a display manager. The error message from journalctl is process ' COSMIC_SESSION_SOCK=12 cosmic-comp ' failed with code 1 and cosmic-session[725]: cosmic-comp exited with error code 1
Troubleshooting: I have tried rebooting, reinstalling NVIDIA drivers, and using different display managers (LightDM,SDDM,GDM).
Other info: running start-cosmic from a TTY works, but no games work, and everything is laggy. Other DEs work
OS: Arch Linux x86_64
Kernel: Linux 6.10.3-arch1-1
DE: COSMIC (installed from AUR)
Shell: ZSH
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770K (8) @ 3.90 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti [Discrete]
