Hello, I helped my friend Install Linux Mint onto their 2014 MacBook Pro, but they decided against using it and attempted to delete the partitions. For whatever reason when they tried deleting the swap partition, everything broke and their laptop just boots into the grub menu which is just a terminal unlike before. We tried booting into recovery but the only one that worked was the old version (where you hit shift, command, option r, power) and I tried to create a new partition to install a new version of macOS into but it’s been a few hours and it’s still partitioning. I would really appreciate help because I’m panicking so much that I might have ruined my friends comptuer

do you have a usb stick and can you boot from it
it will help if its a macos restore usb (if those even exist today)
Yeah I do, another person elsewhere suggested using a repair distro or smth st least for the partitioning
The issue I’m having now is that we tried partitioning (specifically creating a new partition from the already deleted space from mint) and it’s been going at it for a while, is it safe to just shut the computer off?
It’s not deleting a partition, only creating one and I can’t see anyone online facing errors for that
There’s no cancel option or anything either
Fucking macOS 😭
I recommend taking this to the Linux Mint server
