I got the low disk space kde notification I think timeshift did an auto backup to home coz it decided to do it on its own when I closed the application the config reset and now my whole os is frozen I can just open a terminal and type two letters can't close anything or so anything

How do I clear pacman cache at least or kill timeshift in this scenario

#

can you run things with alt+f2 or similar

#

you could run killall timeshift to kill it

#

its also theoretically possible to run pacman's cache cleaner (pacman -Scc) in a terminal directly, assuming you know what is your terminal

#

I'll try alt f2 I was trying to remember the command to swap

#

I can't type in terminal in this state

viscid sinew
#

to go to a tty, you use ctrl+alt+f4

ocean oriole
#

It's very frozen

viscid sinew
#

but you can open a terminal, so thats something

ocean oriole
#

That was before but I can't now I came back lol rip

#

Ctrl alt f4 won't work

#

Alt f4 won't work

#

I think I'm proper frozen now

#

The only thing is when I moved my mouse from standby the screen brightened a bit

#

So that's still functioning

viscid sinew
#

well, theres always an option to reboot to the live iso and clean up some garbage

ocean oriole
#

How do I go to live iso

#

Do I need the USB

viscid sinew
#

yes

ocean oriole
#

What a shame timeshift changed itself by my pressing the X

#

I don't have an arch USB anymore

#

Any other options

#

Maybe from kde login screen I'll swap tty

viscid sinew
#

do you have an android phone and a usb otg dongle, or a second computer?

ocean oriole
#

Then I can delete?

#

Guess I'll reboot

#

I do have an android phone

viscid sinew
#

linux might not like not being able to write to the drive

ocean oriole
#

I have access to a laptop running a version of Arch

viscid sinew
ocean oriole
#

Dang I need a new USB

#

Okay

#

I just got one T the store for timeshift backups

#

Before it shut itself

#

Okay I'll force restart

#

My screen won't even display anything

#

Gg

#

Wait after the logs screen I made it to kde login screen

#

Should I try alt Ctrl f4

viscid sinew
#

do it

ocean oriole
#

From Login screen nothing happens

#

But I'll try login

#

I can also go to an environment like i3

#

Instead of plas me a x11

#

Shit, I'm just stuck on the spinning wheel

#

Plasma is ubabwmt is tart

#

To start

#

Home direction is out of disk space

#

Directory

#

Ok

viscid sinew
#

go to a tty (ctrl+alt+f4), log in there and remove some garbage using commandline tools

ocean oriole
#

I can't seem to tty from this error

#

Maybe if I press on

#

Ok first

#

I did it

#

I made it to another tty

#

Even tho nothing on the screen changed

#

So login as my user not as root

#

Then pacman -Sc

#

And idk where the timeshift backup was made but I'll want to delete that

#

Damn it's been a while since I've been in terminal and tty

#

Tryna to remember cuz I just came back to Arch

#

That's why I was gonna do a backup so then I could update keyrings and upgrade

#

Hm

#

Lsblk doesn't show how much size is available hey how do I show it normally in terminal view

#

I think I found today's automatic snapshot by the stupid program

#

Inside timeshift / snapshots

#

How do I view the size of it and delete it

#

Looks to be a folder

#

Yeah it's an rsync thing with log

ocean oriole
#

Looks like it made backups in snapshots, snapshots daily , monthly, and weekly

#

Maybe boot to who knows

#

I rm-rf'ed all the folders
