@formal turret
@lapis needle
nekro has do not disturb on
im here
@formal turret how is it going?
done
remove the thread
i think everything is working
this is ridiculous
but we didnt installed the new nvidia driver yet
or you you did it by yourself?
that's what it reverts to usualy.
it's an open soruce driver
what we did was removing the old driver, now we need the new one
needed abit of help with said drivers there were differeent ones
^
me?
yes
you
no one else is having nvidia problems here
istalling now
good
lets see
wait i forgot nvidia-utils and opencl-nvidia
and others
shit.
it should still boot fine.
nvidia-settings too
isnt nvidia-utils a dependency?
@formal turret remove the kms hook in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf (the line that doesn't have a # before it) if you or archinstall haven't already
pixel's nvidia misadventures
lol
it is
i use nvidia-dkms-tkg
never tried that
i do that because explicit sync
wayland + normal latest nvidia driver = a fucking lot of problems
yeah.
help
what?
what happend
my mouse is flashing
every time i boot
open a terminal and type "nvidia-smi"
my screen black
ctrl+alt+f1
i cant
why?
why?
when put passwoed in goes to black moude flashing
-_-
no problem, just do that
just let it go
ctrl+alt+f2
im using my vr rn
yeah what
dont hot a phonevrn
LOL
wtf
you are using discord on virtual reality?
yes
im an expert in reading typos
omg im dying
im on terminal rn
okay type nvidia-smi like nekro said
ok
cdone
what does it say?
my driver version
can it detect your card?
do you know if you are using xorg or wayland?
date driver version
550.78
k
yeah, thats right
wait
none of this would have happend had archinstall hadn't been used
my screen black and moude flashing
i know pixel, hang on
k
ill be back in 10 min
after i rebooted it started going werid
it faild re boot i think
y
how did it fail reboot?
i forgot saidvsmthing
what that rebotv cmd called
shit's fubar
god damn man
just type reboot
reboot now is always best
watch dog broke. that what it was
thats fine
thats normal
i get that on mine every single reboot
sometimes you'll see UFW's firewall rules pass
it flashin rn
i know man
give me a second
im trying to help here
so you mean your mouse is flashing like the light on your moue or do you mean the cursor?
scroll up
thats weird
does the login screen appear normal?
no, i meant the flashing
we need to know this
he is offline
he had online status before
that man is unpredictable
😂
my laptop
im using a old laptop from my brother
@ripe atlas he is back
so im alr now
good good
so when i boot in to lynix my screen goes black and my mouse is flashing
so, when you turn on your pc, does the login screen appear normal or it starts flashing after login?
okaay
somewhere you should be able to see a selection where it says wayland or x11
you should be using x11
its fully black and only mouse is flashing
its not x11 its the other one
you need to choose x11
idk
reboot and select x11
@formal turret @formal turret append the kernel parameter nvidia_drm.modeset=1 to the linux line in grub
lets try x11 first
i was away for a while but this is a necessary parameter for nvidia users
what parameter
yeah, but only for wayland, we should try x11 first
oh not
nvidia_drm.modeset=1
it even helps X11
x11 first
then we try it
if it fails, we ttry it then, it's not necessary all the time
no point in adding stuff that's there just to be there
okay
.
drops head
ugh
yes go look please
if its gdm it should look like a gear
there is only sleep restart or shutdown list users
maybe there?
the thing is that i dont know what is your login manager so i cant tell where it is
im using a different version
maybe in the top left, like that
now login
to plasma x11
good
ok
does it work now?

wayland gives a lot of problems on nvidia cards, happy to see swiching to x11 works!
i already said to do this
why didnt you guys just listen to me from the beginning
i said it in chat
said do xorg
we're the only ones that REALLY helped anyway -_-
lol kidding.
@formal vale edit the post to "(SOLVED) at the beginning please"
no quotes
thanks
Yep.
thank nekro as well
we were the only ones helping
@formal vale edit this post name to put (SOLVED) in the beginning of this post [lease
Ok i was gone for a while
@formal turret remember to append nvidia_drm.modeset=1 to your grub linux line (editable in /etc/default/grub to make permanent then do sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg)
It will provide with a better nvidia experience
And if you suspend your system a lot enable nvidia-suspend nvidia-resume nvidia-resume with sudo systemctl enable nvidia-suspend nvidia-resume nvidia-hibernate and then make the file /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-power-management.conf and write options nvidia NVreg_PreserveVideoMemoryAllocations=1 NVreg_TemporaryFilePath=/tmp into it and do sudo mkinitcpio -P to regenerate the initramfs
Prepending [SOLVED] to the thread
[SOLVED] pixel's nvidia misadventures
all info is available in archwiki
read it
that doesn't always help
@formal vale
i'm in the official arch irc channel
you kinda gave him too many steps at once
how do i do this
and when i use my os everything feels like laggy
its not a cpu over load its not ram nothing like that i think my hdd kinda sucks tbh
or my power supply
i had this same isue on windows
i dont really know what causes it but the responce time sucks
like when i boot up my pc sometimes my internet car dose not tern on
