#Pipewire no sound

I feel like roadrash
would recommend you open a thread in linux-support , include all the pipewire packages you have installed, all the pulse audio packages you have installed, what kernel and nvidia package you use, and what kernel parameters you have set, as well as anything in journalctl and systemctl that you think could be even remotely relevant, oh and the hardware in play
@slim pike Neat, how
...
Or pray tell Mr. Cookies, how does only as unfortunate as I, manage to display all the pulse audio packages I have installed on my Distro
@faint tendon I believe you were saying pacman -Q would be an effective manner, and perhaps with a | grep pulseaudio appended to the end of it to help narrow things down?
Okay, might as well leave the thread then, good luck with your issue 🙂
why?
Mods said "if it avoids future conflict, then do it"
Anyway, here's the output
If you want EVERY package then I guess I could provide that, but I don't see that being helpful
Idk if maybe I need alsa?
But looking on the archwiki, I can't figure it out
Maybe the server isn't started?
But I really don't know how to fix this
I also have wireplumber
Ok so I removed pipewire-pulse
Nope
Readded it, nope
Idk what to do
@next haven have you read the pipewire page on the wiki thoroughly?
You need to get rid of all things pulseaudio and just keep pipewire stuff...
I can' t even start the service
I have
Unless you also mean pipewire pulse
You don't have to start services... It uses sockets
No idea how those work
So, do I get rid of pipewire pulse?
Also the gui I used for my audio stuff is gone
You have no sound at all?
Show the alsamixer output
Mhm
Um
Also I don't think it being muted is the issue
Like, ANYTHING that would normally play a sound, makes my apps nearly crash
I may be dumb
Look try this and i'll get back to you later i'm in class

Idk what to do here
Ok
I still don't hear anything
Also I used a gui before, not this cli thing

Welp
Post the output of systemctl --user status pipewire
Hmm
Here in alsamixer
Are there any other soundcards
Press f6
4
3 is my headphones output
Idk which one is my mic input
Either 0 or 1
Cuz it's not a USB mic
USB device is my 2nd webcam
It's probably HDA Intel PCH, as I don't have hdmi audio rn
Headphones look fine, but it's not getting audio
What do you get if you select the NVIDIA one
Nothing
Okay
Restart pipewire
How?
systemctl --user restart pipewire
No
Oh
No audio still?
No...
Testing that crashed discord
I think you're barking up the wrong tree, if I can get the old gui I was using it's probably just something being off
Something got uninstalled when we did the last thing you suggested
Can I somehow find out what it was?
What last thing?
The command didn't even go through...
No...that's not what I meant
I did do this, after
I know how to install something
But whatever it did, fucked it
Everything
I always post the screenshot BEFORE hitting enter
I ran the command after, as is evident by me not having pulseaudio
What's the output of wpctl status
I reinstalled pulse, I can hear shit now
But I can't adjust my volume
I at least want to get SOMETHING working before I try to fix my main issue
Not being able to stream discord audio
Like, my sound control panel is just gone
I can HEAR now, but I only have the shitty pulseaudio sound panel
Where's the other one which is usually on the taskbar?
plasma-pa
I also can't use my keyboard to adjust sound
But I had kpipewire, why didn't it fucking work
Ok, this is the issue NOW
I've fixed probably as much as I can
I'm so fucking close to figuring this out
It's just ONE issue
My error popups crash because there's no audio sink...
Help
AHAHAHA
IT WAS FUCKING WIREPLUMBER
ARE YOU FUCKING ME
I installed pipewire-media-session and it fixed it
ARE YOU
KIDDING
You'd make a better sailor
