Hi, I'm trying to install arch on my machine, however I have no access to the internet.
The PC has windows installed. I have done some research but I couldn't fix it yet. I have tried to run dhcpcd as well as trying using wifi. I followed the wiki for that, and it seems like I was connected to the wifi but pinging google still didn't work. I have tried older versions of arch isos, but same thing. I have also tried installing other distros and they seem to work fine. Any ideas? I'm quite lost.

station wlan0 show in iwctl please @vagrant elm
says State connected
@vagrant elm photo please
In the photo you show you are connected
I don't understand...
It's pinging fine
give me a sec
@vagrant elm
Sorry, what do you mean?
I mean that in that photo, you are able to ping just fine.
But I don't receive anything back
Unless it's 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1
Oh forgive me didn't even see the first command
No problem
Same result unfortunatelly
Is there like an external firewall?
Since packets are being transmitted but cannot be received...
Maybe check in your router's configuration...
I'll check
I'm not an expert, but I don't see anything out of the ordinary in the router's settings
And again, this only happens in the arch iso, nowhere else. The EndeavourOS live installation worked fine, as well as the ubuntu one
This might be a problem from your isp
Just tried ping -4 google.com and that one worked
And ping -6 google.com has the 100% packet loss problem
Alright, I disabled ipv6 by editing the GRUB file, and now pinging google.com works
I'll proceed with the installation like this for now to test it
@vagrant elm what de/wm are you going to pick?
Hyprland
I wouldn't recommended using a wm for my first use of a wm in arch, I would recommended using a de to get to know arch a little bit better, then use a wm
Just did a minimal install, logged in to my account, and same thing as before, ping with ipv4 is working, but with ipv6 is not working
Alright, maybe I'll try KDE
good choice
with archinstall or manual?
archinstall
@vagrant elm with networkmanager?
yes
as a package also?
Sorry, what do you mean as a package? I only selected the option in the archinstall script, nothing else
that package shows up in pacman -Q
as installed?
yes
how are you pinging?
ping google.com
ping -c3 archlinux.org
Same result: 0 received, 100% packet loss
can you open the arch webpage? @vagrant elm
through the tty?
Sorry that was a dumb question. Let me install arch again with KDE pre installed
Alright, yes I can access the arch website
pacman also seems to work fine
@vagrant elm and ping?
Ping still doesn't work, only when it has the flag -4
@vagrant elm ping -c3 archlinux.org ?
0 received
does it matter?
What do you mean? Sorry
Why deter people from using certain things, it is true that wms require more setup and learning but that's not that big of a deal. Anyone can learn by reading the docs and practice.
Anyway if this is solved then please add [SOLVED] in the title
I do get where killertofu is comming from. But you make a good point. I'll just play around with KDE for now to get my bearings, and then try Hyprland, as I like to tinker
Yeah, disabling ipv6 from GRUB did fix the issue with installing arch, so I'll mark it as solved. However it's still a bit annoying that I don't fully understand the issue. But I'll do some reading on my own. Huge thanks to both of you for the help!
0fficerk received a thank you cookie!
[SOLVED] No internet in arch-iso
If you're asking if it matters that I can't ping with ipv6 after being able to install arch, then no, not really. Personally I'd like to understand the issue, but in regards to my original problem, no. But again, thanks for all the help
